> 24 hourThis is third type of Magnet bars that I have bought for my peg board and its perfect. Strong magnet with 16 inches mounting center holes which is exact measurement for my peg board. FYI, the yellow line is just nylon tape.

> 24 hourThese Master Magnetics AMC18PLC Magnetic Tool Holders are AMAZING. They cost a little more than cheaper competing products, but the magnetic holding force is far superior. In fact, if you have a tool that has a lot of metal surface area, such as a Kreg Pocket Hole Clamp, the magnets are TOO powerful, and I would worry that wrenching the clamp free would overstress the mounting screws. That said, the holding power is perfect for chisels, screwdrivers, wrenches, and other such common items. I have mine mounted on a rolling cart, which is why I was concerned to find some really powerful magnets. Now I can roll over bumps or jostle the cart very hard and not have to worry about anything falling off. In fact, when I first received these, I attached a full suite of wrenches and chisels and shook the entire bar at arms length... Nothing happened! Not a hint of movement from any tool! Simply awesome. This particular bar is 18 long, which is perfect for my needs, since Im mounting it in an 18.5 wide space and in my experience, it is good to leave a little extra space (1/4) at either end of the bar so that attached tools dont get crowded by the sides of your cabinet/cart/corner wall. Having handled two of these now myself, I can attest they really do seem to have 20 lbs. of holding force PER INCH. Also, I now understand what other reviewers mentioned about the red stripe. It is indeed just a thin strip of red electricians tape, but cleanly applied and recessed deeply enough that it MAY last; however, it is not especially durable and will tear or abrade easily if you mount any kind of tool with a protrusion that can reach or rub against it (Im not sure what that would be... maybe a hand saw or coping saw with a small side screw adjustment that can reach between the bars). Obviously, the red tape is there to hide the series of magnets sandwiched between the top and bottom metal plates. (Those magnets are plainly visible on the backside.) It would be easy enough to replace the tape if damaged, and frankly, I dont mind if the stripe doesnt hold up. Even with exposed magnets, I think it will look fine in a workshop. Its not going over the mantle. I only mention it in case it does matter to others. All in all, I cant imagine a better magnetic tool holder. Aside from the red tape issue--which doesnt bother me--the only other concern I can think of is that the magnets may be too powerful for some peoples tastes. As I mentioned above, large surface area tools can clamp on with quite a bit of force, so I would not recommend this for large flat metal surfaces like some heavy duty clamps, nor for precision tools like a calipers or steel framing square since the force may cause minor deflection when attaching/removing those tools that then throws off their precision. For everything else, these are ideal. If I were going to improve one thing, I think I would place the mounting holes inside the bar sandwich (i.e., through the center of the red stripe) to give it a cleaner look without the protruding mounting tabs. No big deal though. Since Im mounting mine low down on the face of a cart, I flipped them upside down (versus the picture) so you dont see the tabs from normal standing eye level anyway. Very highly recommended!

> 24 hourI ordered one bar but received two because two boxes stuck together so firmly the packer thought they were a single unit. THAT’s how strong these magnets are. I’ve owned one for over five years and still in perfect condition so I bought one (two) more and they remain perfect and extremely easy to install

> 24 hourI have this identical item and bought another for my son for Christmas. I have it on my pegboard tool area, screwed into the studs behind. Its great for those tools that dont hang well on pegboard hooks like plyers, files, open end wrenches, vice grips, etc. The magnet is strong...nothing falls off. These basic tools are always ready and easy to find; they pull off easily; they go right back when done.

> 24 hourStrong magnet; easily holds my 18 heavy duty pipe wrench (the heaviest thing I had handy) (of course, only temporary for the pic). Nice 16 OC mounting holes. I didnt like the yellow band, but it is just yellow tape so I pulled it off and covered the bar with standard 3/4 electrical tape so everything now is black. The magnets are spaced around the bar as shown, but thats OK. The magnets are strong enough to hold pliers through the plastic coating on their handles, which is what Im doing.
