There should be a support in middle. When pressing, the roller presses the handle.

havent had a chance to use but look to be good quality

These brayers were terrible! All three of them had uneven ends that left lines in my project when rolling out the paint.

Overall a quality product as advertised. Wished the handle was longer but a minor complaint.
