The thread glows true to those colors in the picture, however remember that it is a single thread you are using so it will not show up as much after its stitched, you will need to sew more than one pass or you could fill areas in. Also if you are stitching through a thick fabric make sure your needle is sharp and practice with the tension ahead of time.

Using a black light, about half the colors only dimly glow; they are still decent looking pastel colors. The ones that glow the brightest are the least saturated colors/lighter colors.

I also used their stabilizer in the beginners kit which I also think was a huge help! I am no great artist with embroidery, this is pretty much my second holiday putting peoples names on gifts. I used the expensive craft store embroidery thread last time and it kinda looked like the letters were bleeding for a lack of better words. The letters werent crisp like this. This looks like I paid someone to do it & I really like that on my fixed income...I cant do expensive gifts. So this will look expensive without breaking the bank. Also the back is WAY cleaner than my stockings. Definitely a product upgrade because I havent switched machines. I am using the glow in the dark on all the Grandkids blankets so even in the dark they know its their blanket. The pic with the name glowing was after just about 1min under a flashlight.

Glow in the dark thread?! YES PLEASE! I LOVE glow in the dark items so when I heard there was glow in the dark embroidery thread I HAD to try it. Bottom line: worth it Longer story: I had the thread sitting on a table while in worked & it’s been raining so not much light even during the day but one of the spools seems to only need a bit of light to have a lot of glow! Cons: The fluorescent green seemed to need more direct light But it still glows. - I wish there were name labels to indicate glow color but I can write it on the bottom so just a “nice to have” feature - I also wish there were even more colors so I’m hoping they’ll make more

I ordered this for my sister who has a 10-needle embroidery machine and has a business. She tried the thread and said she loved it. She said she was going to order more colors.

So far I have used the glow in the dark thread on one project and it worked well. In the attached photo I used the yellow/green glow in the dark thread. For my Brother pe800 embroidery machine, I needed to adjust the tension on the machine to -3 for this particular thread as it initially was not sewing. If you have troubles I recommend trying that first. Also if it doesn’t appear glow in the dark at first, like with most glow in the dark products, put it up to a light source for a few minutes and it should work great. I set mine under a light bulb for a minute and it was very bright (brighter than the attached photo, it’s hard to see via camera). All in all I’m extremely satisfied with price, glow, and the way it looks in my project!

  • : Those thread colors change rapidly after being exposed to ultraviolet light, and gradually return to the original colors when there is no ultraviolet light for a few minutes. This color changing effect can occur repeatedly.
  • How to Get the Best Color Changing Effect:

  1. The stronger UV light to which is the thread exposed, the better color changing effect you will get.
  2. Usually a project with denser stitches or multiple outline stitches will have more visible color changing effect.
  3. Lubricating the thread only with a non-staining silicone spray or sewers aid.

For a better using experience, we suggest you:

  • Funny thread is a little tricky to deal with, we suggest to use large eye needle like SCHMETZ Topstitch 90/14 and Organ HAX1 SP 90/14 to reduce friction.
  • Bleaching and steam ironing the thread is not recommended. Dry ironing is allowable, but Maximum Temperature should be no higher than 176° F.
  • Washing the thread is allowable, but make sure that the Water Temperature should be not higher than 104° F.
