> 3 dayBefore this I bought the PDP retro looking controller, it was cheaply made, came in a cheap case, has no case’s for it, no replacement parts, and cost way more then this. Literally bought this 8BitDo for the price of that PDP along with a case for the 8BitDo, and got express shipping and still had money left over, if you want retro, go 8BitDo.

> 3 dayThis review is for the G Classic Edition. Build quality is excellent, the D-Pad feels EXACTLY like the original Gameboy, along with the smoothness of the red buttoms. The joysticks were slightly slippery to the touch, but overall felt great when playing games. The triggers each felt great and clicky, no complaints at all. They are placed in a pretty good location in relation to where your index fingers rest, which was nice. What was odd is that it came with a more updated firmware version than what is on 8bitdos website. Before buying, I always read that you should update the firmware on their website before using. I didnt get a chance to test the newest firmware because by the time I realized the firmware version that it came with was higher than what I downloaded on their website, it was already installing over it and replacing the firmware with the older version. Not sure how why that was, but either way it worked fine when syncing to the Switch. I didnt experience any input lag, and Im usually a stickler for this sort of thing. I would have definitely noticed if there was any. Zelda felt amazing and responsive. Now to my criticism. I ended up returning it because after about an hour of playing Zelda, I began to feel that it was too small for my hands. Playing Zelda felt odd, especially having all of those buttons so close together on a controller. The more frustrating thing that I encountered was that I kept bumping the right joystick with the side of my thumb when I would press either the Y or B buttons. Im used to larger controllers (Xbox One, PS4), where theres slightly more real estate for your hands. Thats not the fault of 8BitDo, they did an amazing job making the controller feel retro while maintaining the current gen functionality we expect. It was just too small of a package for my hands and they felt cramped. I couldnt get over the feeling and ultimately found it a deal breaker. I hope this helps for those of you who are unsure. Its a great controller that can be used for MANY devices. But be wary for those of you who prefer larger controllers.

> 3 dayI bought two of these in different colors and was pleasantly surprised to find that the build quality seemed very nice, given that these are third-party controllers. The color schemes are pleasant and add a retro touch; the ones I got recall the colors of the North American SNES controller and the Game Boy. The shape and layout is essentially that of an SNES controller, but with analog sticks and an extra pair of shoulder buttons. Connectivity is straightforward. Four interface modes (Mac, XInput, DInput, and Nintendo Switch) are available, so whatever it is youre trying to connect to, odds are it will recognize these controllers in one of the four modes. While the instructions dont mention it, you can connect these controllers to iOS devices with a few extra steps. After registering them in Switch Control, theyll appear in the list of Bluetooth devices just like other controllers, and they work as expected in games with controller support. The buttons all feel pretty decent. The shoulder buttons are perhaps a little on the small side, but you get used to them quickly. I didnt expect the sticks to be anything special, but they feel smooth and responsive. These arent merely cheap junk with premium branding. They cost more than the average third-party controller on Amazon because they are, in fact, better. After using both of the controllers evenly for about a year (i.e., one at a time, so each one got about half a years worth of effective use), the rubber grip on one of the analog sticks developed a tear and began coming off of the stick. Ive retired the controller that developed this issue, as the damaged grip digs into my thumb if I try to use it. The other controller has yet to show any signs of the issue, for what thats worth. If youre shopping for a go-to everyday controller that will see lots of use, consider getting a backup.

> 3 dayWith the ability to be used on multiple platforms and a simplistic way to sync it to your device, Switch, or computer, the controller does not fail. However, I used it while wired to my PC. Its precise to a fault. The D-pad is extremely stiff and will periodically execute moves you did not intent. Due to that I issue use the thumb sticks. Then, when I switched my playing style, the home and capture buttons were too close to the buttons and directional controls causing me to interrupt or ruin my gaming on the Switch. I prefer a more square/rounded D-pad (like Sega used) since I have huge thumbs. The shoulder buttons are an issue, too. They are either perfect or very faulty. The throw, for some one with long fingers, is very short. My fingertips exceed past them and they sometimes dont activate. It has been said the fuller controller, the PS styles one, might be more comfortable, but it has the same layout. Luckily, even with large hands this controller does not cramp them. This controller is highly recommended for a reason. I feel if the controller was longer, 10-15% larger, and more spaced out it would be much better. 8Bitdo know what they were making, but they need to improve it again. I would return it, but it will help me out in a pinch when I visit friends or when I scream at the TV while using the Switch joy-cons, which is what this controller was meant to replace. It still is so much better and NIntendonts joy-CONs. Lastly, If you want the perfect PC controller go with the Logitech F310 and not their wireless ones. It will NEVER fail!

Greater than one weekI 100% recommend this, unless you only play 3D games. NOTE: I only use this for the Switch, not the other platforms that it can be used with. I absolutely love this controller. I use this while playing the following games, and I do so with ease: Stardew Valley, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight I also occasionally use this with Breath of the Wild, but that is a bit harder to play with this controller as this was designed more for 2D games, and BOTW is a 3D game. PROS: Build quality is fantastic. Best D-Pad Ive used so far, which is incredible for a third party manufacturer. Analog sticks are like the PS4 controller, which I believe are very nice (your opinion may vary here). Excellent Battery Life (and very fast charging). I have yet to run out of battery while playing a game. I plug it in every 2 days, but I might not have to. The charging connection is USB-C also which makes more convenient than a micro-USB plug. Size is also perfect. I have large hands but I got used to this very quickly. It is not as comfortable as Nintendos Pro controller, but this is by no means uncomfortable. No hand straining. CONS: Cannot charge and play simultaneously... not sure why but I dont care. Not good for 3D games due to positioning of D-Pad and Left Analog Stick, but I didnt buy this for 3D games. Just keep this in mind if you were planning on it though. It is still possible to play 3D games; it just might be awkward with the positioning of the D-Pad and L Analog Stick. I do recommend this product though!

21-11-2024Its for a child or a go bag that youre trying to keep minimal. Also, it just works. Reading the small instructions sucks. Cool product though.

Greater than one weekI wont reproduce other reviews that cover the merits of this controller. I do want to highlight there are differences between the G Gameboy colored model and the SN Super Nintendo colored model. Specifically, the Gs D-pad is sleek plastic with subtle textured lines, but those textured lines really provide no better traction, resulting in having a D-pad that feels smooth. For the SNs D-pad, the entire D-pad has a texture to it, with some indented arrows, resulting in better traction altogether. Also different: the Gs YXBA buttons are all convex (aka a slight bulge outward at their centers), while the SNs YXBA buttons are only convex for BA and concave (or indented slightly) with YX, which mimics the original Super Nintendo controllers. Otherwise, besides color, the models appear to be the same. My preference by feel is the SN version, as I found the Gs D-pad to slick to my liking. Other button issues that are true for both models: I find the L and R buttons are a bit too small. Meanwhile, the L2 and R2 hang over the bottom a bit and feel a bit sharp.

> 3 dayHands down the best Bluetooth controller Ive used, Id venture so far as to say this is better for Bluetooth gaming than using a ps4 controller. Multiple platforms all with their own pairing mode, it automatically reconnects in the mode it was in last when you turn it on, it supports vibration, and its definitely well made and feels quality compared to some of the $15 cheap ones. 10/10 will be buying another for sure!

> 3 dayI love this controller. Its absolutely awesome. I was kind of nervous, since $45 is a lot more money than Id want to spend on a modified SNES controller, but, wow, this product really amazed me. Its sort of uncomfortable if you use the thumbsticks heavily, but, I mainly use this for retro gaming, and they arent painful, it just takes a little getting used to, and if thats something thats important to you, they make a model with hand grips. The setup was easy, although I couldnt get the software from their website to update the controller firmware, it worked out of the box, alls i had to do is pair it to my Macbook Pro, and it immediately worked with my emulator (OpenEmu for mac). If any of you are curious, it registers as a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller under the software, and just Pro Controller under the bluetooth menu. I really love this controller, and I can recommend it to anyone who enjoys a retro game every now and then, its also cheaper than your average console controller, at only $45. I will be updating my review should I have to contact customer service or if anything goes wrong. Pros: -Clicky thumbsticks. -D-pad feels quality and like a real Super Nintendo controller. -Came charged, and battery has remained at full bars after on and off usage. -Uses USB type-C for charging. (Yay!) -Came the next day -Wireless Cons: -Joysticks are in a playstation orientation (Really is a preference.) -Software from their website isnt robust, and I couldnt get the drivers to update, controller still works fine though. (I was using a mac so that may be why, even though its listed as supported.) -Select and start buttons arent centered, theyre slightly to the left.
