> 3 dayBiggest thing to know is the triggers are not an axis. They’re a button (for driving games you can’t control throttle) Works as expected with emulators, and many different operating systems. The joy sticks do click in and feel much like a proprietary console controller. The buttons do not click. Overall they feel like a nice classic PS2 controller or older controller. Works great so far. Seems reliable. Lightweight yet built sturdy. Highly recommend for those who game on multiple devices. Literally connects and works with almost any device with Bluetooth in some way shape or form.

> 3 dayI came in with pretty high hopes because I was used to the d-pad of SNES controllers. It is not the same. However, it does function well as a controller and the asthetic is appealing. If you want to play Mario, dont buy this. If you want to play N64 games, this is for you. The only advantage it has over a standard Xbox or ps controller is its size. It fits well in pockets. The plastic feels like a SNES controller, with that said, cheap like a SNES controller. Pros: Many features Affordable Portable Nostalgia aesthetic Cons: Pairing can be hard the first time. Just read the manual Cheap plastic feel D-pad is questionable for intensive play Overall I rate a 7/10, if they update that D-pad, this would be a monster.

24-11-2024Update 10/11/2018: 8bitdos support team has been in constant communication with me the past week and has had me try the newest firmware update since the below issue was reported. Im happy to confirm that the newest firmware, v1.29, fully resolved the issue. Buy this controller with confidence that youre getting a quality product with a great support team behind it. 8bitdos controllers have just reclaimed their status as my #1 favorite. Just make sure you update the firmware when you get it! ****Im leaving my previous review here for reference: These controllers look and feel great, but thats pretty much where the positives stop. When using the older revision of this with the color scheme thats closer to an actual SNES controller recently I encountered an issue with it and I wanted to know if this new model has the same problem, so I bought one. Unfortunately I can confirm that the problem, detailed below, still occurs even with these new revisions. This problem became apparent to me when playing Mega Man X4 in Mega Man X Legacy Collection on Nintendo Switch: I noticed that when I hold Y, B, and A, then press right on the Dpad, the X button will activate without being touched. There are other button combinations that cause phantom button presses or misfires, as well (listed below). Ive had two of the older more accurate looking SNES style versions of this controller, and this one just arrived today. They are all affected in the same manner. 8bitdos support has been contacted on the issue, but no information has been provided on whether or not this is a hardware or firmware issue, and no resolution has been offered other than that they are looking into it. Button Combinations that cause misfires: hold YBA Dpad right = X is active as well but not pressed hold YBA R = X is active as well but not pressed hold ABX = Y is active as well but not pressed hold ABX = pressing Dpad up+left OR up+right will only register as pressing UP hold BXY L2 = A is active as well but not pressed hold ABXY = Dpad does not register ANY diagonals

Greater than one weekBought this for a retro pi4 arcade but end up using for Nintendo switch when we have multiple people wanting to play and don’t like the little controller.

> 3 dayLike the rest of the gamepads from 8bitdo this one works great. Can connect via various connection types xinput, etc which helps with various programs and older games that dont work quiet right under windows. All buttons work well and if needed repairs are made easy, pluss they sell replacement parts right from their website.

> 3 dayIts a very well-done clone of an SNES controller, that much I will say and I commend them for getting the feel right. The analog sticks are useless most of the time. Its not that theyre terrible, in fact they are suitable in terms of quality. The issue being they are unnecessary for this type of controller which is aimed at 2D games and the like. Theyre in the way and using them just isnt as enjoyable as a modern controller. On paper it sounds like the perfect SNES controller, but in the end its just an added feature that doesnt offer much to the player. Lots of creators recommend these and owning one right now, I can say you can do better. A proper 2D experience can be had with modern controllers, just focus on the shape of the D-pad and its placement. I wouldnt even recommend this for 2D games personally which is what its made for. The D-pad is stiff, and if you were to play a game like Street Fighter where diagonals are essential then, this one just isnt that good. Im not even kidding, I could pivot much easier on the Switchs Joycon 4-button d-pad easily, but the SN30 just makes it frustrating sometimes. Controller is also really LOUD. If I were to play a game like Hades in the other room, you would be able to hear the clicks and clacks of me smashing the face buttons. This is not ideal in some households, just a tip. Shoulder buttons feel good, not as much input range as joycons L and R but still good. ZL and ZR are strange to press. Just doesnt feel quite right. Would I recommend these after using them? If it were 2020 then sure. But now in 2023 and moving forward? No. Controllers have since gotten better and more intricate. Spending $50 on the SN30 Pro is not ideal and your money is better spent on a better quality controller. Splurge another $20 and get a more premium controller. The only thing keeping this controller afloat is pure nostalgia. Its not very comfortable and brings more negatives than positives, but the homage to the SNES is still a nice touch.

> 3 dayCannot find a decent Bluetooth retro controller. All have issues with sticky buttons or lag or inaccurate directional controls. This on is no different. Cheap junk. While I will admit it’s a step up from the previous two I owned, still same recurring issues.

> 3 dayI was interested in the 8bitdo products for a while and (after my wired Xbox 360 controller kicked the bucket) it was time to try something enjoyable. I miss the days of playing on the Super Nintendo, but thumb sticks are essential for modern games and this gamepad brings both functionality and nostalgia into one bundle. Now I can play Genshin Impact or Overwatch 2 with the wonderful sensation of the 90’s in hand.

Greater than one weekI saw the control on a YouTube video and I really like how it looked like a retro style controller. So I decided to buy one. And I absolutely do not regret. It’s easy to pair and the battery last quite long.
