The good thing about this controller is the compact size, making it the ideal travel controller. That said, the ergonomics on it are not up to modern standards, meaning its not suited for long term gaming sessions. Dont expect this to be your primary controller for everyday gaming. However, if youre playing a game on the plane and you need a decent controller that fits easily in a bag, this is perfect.

The description states that this is a fully featured controller with rumble and motion controls. I have tried this controller with two android apps (both of which recognize rumble on a Sony dual shock 4) and niether app could find rumble on this controller. I also couldnt find any motion controls either. Now it may be that this controller only supports these features for the Nintendo Switch. If that is the case, then the description needs to be updated to reflect that. I have other 8bitdo controllers and they are all 5 star controllers. I would have rated this one 5 stars too had it not been for the missing features. The other small thing of note is that this controller doesnt have analogue triggers. The Xbox cloud variant of this controller does. If you are looking for the best available controller for Android, you should go for the Xbox cloud version instead of this one.

I originally bought this product to be used with my phone so I can play emulated games now I use that on my switch and when my joycons are recharging it is a great simple alternative

Product feels really high quality and the sticks are tight and feel better than my Switch ProCon. Feels great on the switch’s NES, SNES, and most 2D platforms, but I do think it’s annoying how easy it is to input a diagonal directional input when I don’t want to. It helps to play with the tips of my thumb rather by then joint of my thumb, but sometimes that feels unnatural. This has only happened once, but I recently experienced input delay while playing on the NSO’s SNES games. I fixed it by resyncing, but I’ve never had that problem with my procontrollers. Still pretty satisfied with it, but I hope they fix some of the issues I named in any future SNES type controllers! I still love this controller and sometimes catch myself trying to find any excuse to use it because it feels so nice.

I bought this controller because Id read that it worked well with the Nintendo Switch, Steam games, and other PC games. Ive used it with all three of those types of games and it has worked great. The only issue Ive had so far is that, when using it with a Switch, if you make the SN30 Pro controller first player, then add a Nintendo Pro controller as second player, the pro controller replaces the SN30 Pro as first player and disconnects it. Other than that issue I like the controller. It feels well made. It fits in my hand and my childrens hands. The battery lasts a long time. I charge it every few days just to top off the battery but it hasnt come close to dying even after using it to play for several days. Steam recognizes it as an Xbox controller and buttons are already mapped in game. I would recommend this controller.

This controller is well built, even though it doesnt pair easily with my Switch console. It requires holding down the start button and the Y button to begin the pairing sequence and then a click of a small button at the top of the controller to confirm the Bluetooth connection. It also cannot wake up the Switch from sleep. That said, I dont overly fault 3rd party integration into Nintendo products, as it may be difficult from an engineering perspective.

Like the rest of the gamepads from 8bitdo this one works great. Can connect via various connection types xinput, etc which helps with various programs and older games that dont work quiet right under windows. All buttons work well and if needed repairs are made easy, pluss they sell replacement parts right from their website.

I 100% recommend this, unless you only play 3D games. NOTE: I only use this for the Switch, not the other platforms that it can be used with. I absolutely love this controller. I use this while playing the following games, and I do so with ease: Stardew Valley, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight I also occasionally use this with Breath of the Wild, but that is a bit harder to play with this controller as this was designed more for 2D games, and BOTW is a 3D game. PROS: Build quality is fantastic. Best D-Pad Ive used so far, which is incredible for a third party manufacturer. Analog sticks are like the PS4 controller, which I believe are very nice (your opinion may vary here). Excellent Battery Life (and very fast charging). I have yet to run out of battery while playing a game. I plug it in every 2 days, but I might not have to. The charging connection is USB-C also which makes more convenient than a micro-USB plug. Size is also perfect. I have large hands but I got used to this very quickly. It is not as comfortable as Nintendos Pro controller, but this is by no means uncomfortable. No hand straining. CONS: Cannot charge and play simultaneously... not sure why but I dont care. Not good for 3D games due to positioning of D-Pad and Left Analog Stick, but I didnt buy this for 3D games. Just keep this in mind if you were planning on it though. It is still possible to play 3D games; it just might be awkward with the positioning of the D-Pad and L Analog Stick. I do recommend this product though!

Pros -It syncs incredibly well after initial pairing. Hold Y+Start to pair with switch. -The form factor really takes me back to being a kid again hanging out at my best friends grandmas house playing some Super Mario World into the wee hours of the morning. -The buttons are super clicky (this helps with knowing for sure you hit an input.) -Its fully featured for switch with gyro and vibrate. There is no NFC, so you will need to use your joycons or a pro controller from Nintendo. - The battery life is incredible. Ive had it for around 5 months and I have had to charge it literally 10 times. I stream roughly 10 hours a weekend. -The comfort of it is oddly great. The joysticks are a little cramped but function really well for Smash Bros and other analog based games. -The triggers are clicky and intuitive to use. -I can sit 10 feet away from my switch in my bed and still have no problem with the signal. Cons -Can have some inaccurate dpad inputs without simple modding -Can become uncomfortable after several hours if you have large hands -Cant wake switch. (No 3rd party controllers can) -Syncing on old firmware was spotty at best. (firmware update greatly helped) -Analog sticks can stick in corner at first. I found mine to fix themselves after several hours of use. I am a small-time Super Mario Maker streamer on twitch. I use this controller almost exclusively. Out the box, this d-pad needs some work. It really favors up and down when pressing left and right. To fix this, I used my toolkit and some hole reinforcements (can buy at any office store), and I opened the controller. I placed these reinforcements around the sensors under the dpad. This made it so the inputs would be far less likely to travel from left or right to an up or down. My advice to 8Bitdo is to make these sensors smaller. This would prevent the accidental inputs from happening with this d-pad. I own 3 8Bitdo controllers and I love this brand. The m30 has the best dpad of any controller I HAVE EVER USED. My favorite controller, the sn30 pro+ suffered from the dpad issue as well, but far less prevalent than this controller. So that is my only caveat out of the way. Here is what I like about this controller when using it with my switch. Overall, I highly recommend this controller. If youre going to play something that requires precise dpad movements, be prepared to follow a guide on how to cover part of the sensor up. I am sure there is someone who thought of my method with a guide somewhere on the internet. I DO NOT, IN ANYWAY, RECOMMEND YOU TAKE APART YOUR CONTROLLER (this is what I did to fix it and if you do not know what you are doing, you could damage the ribbon cables inside.) A casual user will have no qualms with this controller. Mario maker Kaizo players will need to be prepared to do the above mentioned mod. I do not think its a defect. Its a design that causes these inputs to happen. So buy it, I promise you will not regret it. I knocked a star because of the cons I have listed, but I truly love this controller.

Things you should know: - It does work for the Steam Deck on Xinput mode via Bluetooth. I got 4 of these and they all connect no problemo even at the same time - If the face buttons XBAY being switched for PC/Switch bothers you as it does me, I got some great button stickers that work perfectly from the FlamingToast website (You can see them applied in the photo) - I found this to be the best portable controller for the Steam Deck or just any PC/Switch needs in general. There is such a small market for portable but fully functional (and complete buttons) available out there, and after trying countless of controllers, this is where I landed. It doesnt have analog triggers, but by this point, its the least of my worries. The fact that its so small works for PC, Steam Deck, Switch, and Mobile, and has all the functions and buttons you need to work, its a great device. - It uses Type C, isnt that amazing? - The black one is Mobile exclusive which is unfortunate as it does have some bugs with connecting to PC/Steam Deck so as much as I would have loved the black color, I had to go with this gray one. If I really wanted to change the color, there are skins available online but I guess this is fine. I love the button stickers anyways, its also a great way to differentiate whos controllers are whos. Travel Case I used: Hermitshell Hard Travel Case for Sony PS5 Playstation DualSense Wireless Controller - Its a miracle. It fits exactly 4 pieces of 8BitDo Sn30 Pro Controllers even with all 4 charging cables included. I got this because I wanted a nice portable way to carry 4 controllers for when I play some local couch-coop games with my friends on the Steam Deck. I didnt like that the XBAY buttons were switched though so I just purchased some button stickers from FlamingToast and that worked great!
