I bought two of these in different colors and was pleasantly surprised to find that the build quality seemed very nice, given that these are third-party controllers. The color schemes are pleasant and add a retro touch; the ones I got recall the colors of the North American SNES controller and the Game Boy. The shape and layout is essentially that of an SNES controller, but with analog sticks and an extra pair of shoulder buttons. Connectivity is straightforward. Four interface modes (Mac, XInput, DInput, and Nintendo Switch) are available, so whatever it is youre trying to connect to, odds are it will recognize these controllers in one of the four modes. While the instructions dont mention it, you can connect these controllers to iOS devices with a few extra steps. After registering them in Switch Control, theyll appear in the list of Bluetooth devices just like other controllers, and they work as expected in games with controller support. The buttons all feel pretty decent. The shoulder buttons are perhaps a little on the small side, but you get used to them quickly. I didnt expect the sticks to be anything special, but they feel smooth and responsive. These arent merely cheap junk with premium branding. They cost more than the average third-party controller on Amazon because they are, in fact, better. After using both of the controllers evenly for about a year (i.e., one at a time, so each one got about half a years worth of effective use), the rubber grip on one of the analog sticks developed a tear and began coming off of the stick. Ive retired the controller that developed this issue, as the damaged grip digs into my thumb if I try to use it. The other controller has yet to show any signs of the issue, for what thats worth. If youre shopping for a go-to everyday controller that will see lots of use, consider getting a backup.

Absolutely great controller. However, I wont recommend it for playing competitive Splatoon. In the Splatoon scene, Nintendos Pro Controller (Switch) is known to have the left stick wear off and malfunction. Some players look out for third party controllers with a better left stick. With this 8bitdo controller you can play well Splatoon with motion controls and rumble. Theres no difference with a Nintendo Pro Controller in that regard. Unfortunately, the 8bitdo controller is really tiny and the lack of handles make your wrists to go on a painful angle. The button layout in the 8bitdo controller is also different from the Pro Controller and for high level Splatoon is not good. For example, to superjump to the spawn or any other teammate you have to reach the D-Pad on top in a way you dont accidentally touch the left stick. Its really tricky to do it. Also the D-Pad on top makes it hard to swim and press Ouch or Booyah simultaneously. Its really simple to do it on a Pro Controller but not with the 8bitdo one

I got this for my son for Christmas to go with his Steamdeck he ordered. He and his dad spent an entire day playing with the Steamdeck and loved the controller. My son is rather picky about this kind of thing so that is a good recommendation for this!

8Bitdo is by far one of my absolute favorite controller manufacturers. Ive owned their NES30 pro controller for years, and wanted to replace it with a new one. This controller is outright amazing in my eyes. It looks delightful and all the buttons feel super clicky and satisfying. I was also impressed to see this controller had features such as rumble, and even gyroscope controls, something I didnt expect to get on this particular model. The controller works great on my switch with no connection issues, and works good connected to my PC. This controller alone surpassed my expectations but I must give it a 4 star review. I ordered one of these controllers here on Amazon, however I was *really* disappointed to open the box and find no controller when I first bought it. I got a refund and reordered the controller the day after, so it all worked out, but that really stung to receive an empty box.

I originally bought the mini version for my Android tablet. I worked great for my game emulators. Then I upgraded my phone to the Galaxy Note 20 5g ultra. I found that they had this updated version. Works just as well and works for more games. Totally satisfied.

This is a great controller to use for multiple systems. A built-in recharge battery and bluetooth wireless makes it so convenient. I have a few of these synced to different computers and my Switch and it works great for everything. The SNES controller was always one of my favorites and this builds upon that with improvements useful for modern gaming. Its perfect for playing emulator games on the go with a laptop too.

I was interested in the 8bitdo products for a while and (after my wired Xbox 360 controller kicked the bucket) it was time to try something enjoyable. I miss the days of playing on the Super Nintendo, but thumb sticks are essential for modern games and this gamepad brings both functionality and nostalgia into one bundle. Now I can play Genshin Impact or Overwatch 2 with the wonderful sensation of the 90’s in hand.

This controller is well built, even though it doesnt pair easily with my Switch console. It requires holding down the start button and the Y button to begin the pairing sequence and then a click of a small button at the top of the controller to confirm the Bluetooth connection. It also cannot wake up the Switch from sleep. That said, I dont overly fault 3rd party integration into Nintendo products, as it may be difficult from an engineering perspective.
