The manufacturer got it that you need to be able to open this lock quickly and easily if you need to get out of the room. I might add that this fits a bedroom door frame that has raised decorative casing. I have a lock similar to this on the front door by a different manufacturer and its considerably harder to open. I sleep well knowing a perpetrator would have a hell of a time breaching my bedroom door while this lock is on. Took less than 10 minutes to install. Buy it!
