Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-36UT, 15.6 Full HD Display, 11th Gen Intel Core i3-1115G4 Processor, 4GB DDR4, 128GB NVMe SSD, WiFi 6, Windows 11 Home (S Mode)

Wanted to get a relatively cheap laptop with a 1080p screen that could do mainly basic functions like watching videos from various streaming services (Youtube/Twitch/Netflix) in Chrome. This POS cant even do that properly. RAM runs at 100% while idle because 4gb is barely enough for just the operating system to function, and just having chrome open is enough to push the CPU to 100% as well, so doing nearly anything is extremely slow. Screen is 1080p but the quality is not great. I dont know what super geniuses thought to put the cooling fan in front of the keyboard instead of on the side, but it makes it sound like a tornado whenever it is doing anything at all, even idling. Oh and also if this thing is anywhere near you while you are sleeping, be ready for the fans to rev up to max randomly, out of nowhere, while its in sleep mode and wake you up, for no reason. Sound is also very quiet, you need to crank it up to 50/60 to hear pretty much anything.

This is a nice, quick computer with some limitations. It is nice to have the Windows update. The keyboard is of a good design and easy to use. The one thing I should have paid attention to when I bought it was it doesnt have a DVD/CD drive. Other-than-that, my wife and I are really happy with it. Its light weight, compact, easy to use. We bought it during the yearly sale that Amazon has on most of their products. We saved a bundle on this computer. All-in-all, we are very satisfied.

Overheated in hibernation mode. One day it wouldnt boot and it was red hot in HIBERNATE unpluged. Who would know? Used it only for streaming less than 2 hrs a day. Apparently a known issue per Acer site.....unbeknownst to be.... first purchase no issues. This was inferior. Contacted seller the offhanded me to Acer who doesnt reply. Seller wont reply. Guess they know.

Bought it March 16, 2023. Here it is May 19, 2023. Just little over 2 months and laptop has already quit working. Will not even try to turn on.

The laptop is good and what you would expect for $300, no complaints there. But the power connection is like a micro microphone connection and is very fragile. We have 3 of these laptops, purchased 4 months ago and all 3 have issues; one power connector broke in half.

Whenever the laptop enters idle state or the lid is closed for a few minutes, the laptop becomes unresponsive. The screen is black, no keyboard or mouse input is accepted, and the fan makes a surging sound. In order to use the computer, the power button must be held down for 10 seconds to perform a hard reset. This means that every single time I go to use the laptop, it must be first powered down, powered up, rebooted in order to function. I tried restoring factory settings which removed all non-included applications. The issue remained after resetting to factory state.

Just what I wanted. Very fast!
