We had to order a new remote even though our universal works for the volume, but we needed to be able to change the sub-woofer volume and occasionally toggle between voice and cinema modes. The remote worked right out of the box (after, of course, I installed 2 AAA batteries which are not included). But, glad it works just as its supposed to.

I have a lG Sound Bar first gen and even though some of the remote features I dont use it controls everything I have, which are the subwoofer, volume, and inputs.

It worked from the first press of the button!
