AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core, 24-thread unlocked desktop processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler

Died after 6 hours of use. Bought a second chip (from a different retailer) that died after a few days of use. Back to using my 2700x after $1200 in silicon failed. Ive been an AMD fan for a long time and even stuck with them through their rough bulldozer days. But this rate of failure has shook my confidence in their product.

The CPU is worth it for sure. The amount of cores and threads with that high of a clock speed?? Obviously worth it. stays fairly cool, and runs very smooth whilst multitasking.

I was running a R7 2700 overclocked to 4ghz in a workstation for scientific data analysis (next generation sequencing). I thought it was a pretty good setup. I had been thinking about the new Ryzen 3000 cpus but figured the upgrade probably wasnt worth it. Couldnt stop wondering if itd speed up my work so I finally just did it. And am I glad I did!

Let me first disclaim that my 1-star negative review is not directed towards the Ryzen 3900x CPU, as I have not even got to the point of even trying out this CPU yet! My issues are directed towards Amazon and how they are handling their products.
