Greater than one weekA year after the release of New Horizons, a year of waiting of promised significant updates and having received nothing significant, I can safely say this is the weakest AC games in the AC family of games. The creators of this game had asked for more time to complete the game when it was announced. This was said to put in the detail that was necessary. This was encouraging. New Leaf had great content, and they were asking for more time to make detail... Perhaps detail to make it better than New Leaf? Sadly, no. Issues. 1. Character Personalities These are very basic. the attention to detail that was in New Leaf is gone. A snooty is a snooty. It doesnt get too much deeper than that. No matter what character you have from a personality group, it will be like every other character of that group. 2. Missing Game NPCs Tortimer Rover Reese Cyrus Pelly Phyllis Pete Brewster Katrina Gracie Blanca Booker Copper Chip Digby Dr. Shrunk Harriet Joan Katie Lyle Nat Phineas Wendell While not all of these characters are in every game, many could have been incorporated in to the game. Rover at the airport, businesses you can build that have some of these characters as shop owners, etc. 3. Home Options Very nice to be able to upgrade and customize the exterior your home in NH. However, its the interior which has the large hiccup. Rooms are smaller than in previous editions. What you can decorate your home with has NOT expanded. For those who played Happy Home Designer know what detail AC could have had in it, but does not. In fact, instead of updating furniture styles, they just dont exist. While some needed to go, this seems to be something they could have been working on for an update that just didnt happen. 4. Quality of Life There are many quality of life things that were given a pass when the game came up, as many felt they would obviously been tended too after an update that never game. Simple things like allowing you to order 5 Nook Miles tickets or greater, instead of ordering several over and over. This applies to other items you can buy as well. Improvements to buying clothing, especially when wanting buy clothes for townspeople as a gift while in the dressing room never came either. 5. Island Life In NL we had an island that was stable to visit. You could depend on your experience. There is no such thing in NH. You can visit an island, but none of it is stable. You get an island randomly, it may or may not have what you are looking for. You cannot depend on any aspect of this part of the game. It is kinda interesting at first, but eventually it becomes exhausting. I had high hopes for NH. Ive played this series since the very first game and sadly, as the updates did not amount to much, we are left with a game that is half done. One of the leads in the game created Splatoon, which is a very fun and detailed game. However, he got to create Splatoon 2 after Splatoon won many awards, and this is part of what set back the release of NH. There is now a Spltoon 3 coming - guess where the detail that should have gone to AC has been given? Fans waited over 10 years to get a new console game for this series, and Nintendo failed this fandom.
