> 3 dayIve been out of CB radio for several decades. Wanted to get back into it with a base/mobile radio. I did a lot of research before buying this 5555n. I was also looking at the Galaxy and Ranger brands. Ham and CB forums give this radio high marks. The price was great, so I bought it. Glad I did. I did the blob thing to UP1 to enable 11m CB, and put the cover back on. Band D is preprogrammed for CB 0-40. Thats all it needed. Xmit into a dummy load it puts out 20w AM, and 30-35ssb. It can be turned down to about 2-3 to drive a linear.

Greater than one weekWhile this radio is a lot bigger than I expected it is great for the price. I just went out and bought a cheap truck stop antenna and cut it close to 10m and made my first QSO. It was 950miles. And that was only at 40 watts with SWR of 2:1. Update: this thing is awesome. Still using the cheap antenna and so far my longest contact was 5:7 into Croatia.

> 3 dayThe first unit I got was defective, sent it back with no problem. I was sent a new one before I could sent the first one back. I got the new one and this one works great and looks great too, however I am new to this hobby and working on getting a ham license so just listening for now. I believe this to be a good unit to start with for the money.

> 3 dayI agree with the other review. I had a 2510 in the 90s and this radio is as good or better. Jumped OP1 with solder and a few adjustments on the pots which are marked and it was ready to go. Great RX and TX is a swinging monster. SSB is on frequency from the factory. I have two. One for a base station and the other for my big truck at work. Love it!
