Bought this for my special needs son and it broke and was a choking hazard (battery compartment broke) so we returned for an exchange and the new item did the same so we won’t repurchase. It was disappointing because he absolutely loved it but we didn’t want to risk him choking from the small piece that would break off the battery compartment. If that didn’t break then it would absolutely have 5 stars.

I got this on sale, so I feel like it was worth the small investment. My 18 month granddaughter is mesmerized by the spinning colors on this wand! I need to order a second one so she can have one here and one at home. Great toy!

I selected this wand over similar toys because it takes regular batteries, not button cells, and the spinning part is encased in a globe. My kid LOVED it until the halves of the plastic globe came right apart from each other. I super-glued the globe. For the wands next trick, the base of the spinning stars stem broke where it joins the motor inside the handle, making the star flop around and whack at high speeds against the inside of the globe, AND the glued globe halves came apart. Again. I opened up the entire handle (the plastic is very flimsy and the tiny screws will easily strip their holes out, especially on the battery compartment), explored, assessed the problem, and did extensive repairs with silicone putty glue to try to rebuild and reinforce the flimsy base of the stars stem without interfering with the spin. Once cured, it worked briefly, but started wobbling again, and one of the LEDs on the star was bent and nearly broken off by whacking against the inside of the globe. The wiring inside was obviously loose at this point, as the lights became more and more chaotic and nonfunctional. No more than two weeks after my kid got it for Christmas, it was dead. Major disappointment.

I presented this spinner to my great grandson and it wouldn’t work. It was so discouraging. I took me awhile to realize it was the batteries. He did like it the next day when I replaced the batteries.

My daughter had a developmental eval done where they needed to get and maintain her attention. For little ones these settings can be tough when you consider new people, new surroundings, and difficult requests. When I saw how much interest she showed so quickly I immediately had to have one! Its amazing! The batteries it came with lasted *maybe* two hours lol Nothing a screwdriver and 3 AA batteries couldnt fix! When I replaced the batteries, I saw the ones that had been in there werent a name brand (or at least not one I recognized) Once I replaced the batteries, theyve so far lasted 3 days - so Id say, plan to replace them pretty early on ...but once you do, its not like theyll drain that fast moving forward. The spinning of the star with lights causes a bit of vibration and sound - great for sensory input and development! Shes also slightly teething and Ive noticed she enjoys putting it against her gums as its running. The first one I ordered came damaged. The way it appeared, it was damaged in transit - but the replacement was hassle free and shipment was prompt! Absolutely no complaints from me as far as that goes. Life happens and the way things were handled was exceptional. The absolute only downside I have is after about 5 to 10 minutes of use it tends to start warming up to the touch. So its not going to be a toy Id give her during something like say, a car ride, where it might be difficult to take back if it were getting too warm. We usually give it to her for a period of time then just check it to feel how warm it is and either turn it off or hold onto it for a bit before giving it back. She loves it though! When she saw me take it out of the box (she was busy at the time.and I thought I was being quiet lol) she screeched for joy and frantically started reaching for it from across the room lol she knew exactly what it was. Shes extremely possessive when it comes to this wand and its going to now be one of our big deal toys for muscle work and calming/distraction after immunizations. For the price, its a steal. Even if I had to purchase one of these a month, itd be a steal. I dont however think its built for durability. Id say, be prepared to replace *fairly* often. Maybe not once a month, but if youre using it daily like we do, maybe once every 2-3 months.
