ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming AMD AM4 Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 & 3rd Gen Ryzen ATX Gaming Motherboard (PCIe 4.0, 2.5Gb LAN, BIOS Flashback, HDMI 2.1, Addressable Gen 2 RGB Header and Aura Sync)

The motherboard would not post. No USB ports worked other than the one for the BIOS flash. Flashed Bios and still nothing. Only thing functioning was RGB and fans. None of the error LEDs lit up either. I tired 2 keyboards but since I couldnt get them to work I could not enter the BIOS. Obviously, no quality checking. I returned it and looking at the MSI MPG B550.

Now I don’t usually leave reviews. In fact I think this is the first review I have ever left but my experience with this board was so horrendous I think it’s warranted. On my old motherboard (which I ended up switching back to) I would get a normal boost clock on all cores of 4.5 with my ryzen 9 5900x. The temps would be around 70-75c which is pretty good.

I had to return a faulty MSI board before I purchased this one. Man, was I glad that the other one was not working because this Asus Rog Strix is much better, looks nicer and the Bios comes already updated for my new Rysen 5 5600X cpu. Just get this one, you wont regret it!

Desgraciadamente existió una falla interna en la tarjeta LAN lo que no me permitió poder utilizarla, falla conocida por Asus en algunas tarjetas madre y la que adquirí desafortunadamente lo tenía. Se ve de bastante buena calidad pero no me fue posible utilizarla

This motherboard is nice in general, but be aware it has an option in the bios to auto install ARMOR CRATE, ASUSs slow, terrible software that might as well just be malware. which sadly you need for controlling the RGB lights. after installing on a fresh win 10 install it just slowed it down considerably, would not shut down normally or turn on normally. Had to get a special uninstaller to remove it from my pc (not even sure if its all gone w/o just reinstalling windows), after that my pc returned to normal, but now i cant configure the lights.

Im gonna be honest I have no idea what Im talking about when it comes to motherboards but this one seems to be good. I have no experiencing oc so I cant talk about that aspect. I can however talk about convenience. It doesnt have a port for usb c front headers which is such a pain, sure yeah it has a usb c in the back but having a port for usb c front header would make this board perfect in my eyes. Also Asus doesnt have designated software for fast charging like MSI does. Those 2 things would make it a 5/5 board in my books.

It slots in, no issues on my part. Comes with bloatware but it can be removed.

Though Im still trouble shooting the issue, windows 10 on a usb stick boots but the install process fails saying it cant find a media driver. This is with the the absolute latest version of Windows downloaded from Microsoft. Also latest drivers downloaded from Asus. The only thing Ive not done is use an older version of Windows 10. This is more than likely a windows issue, but its troubling that two tech giants cant get their act together. Ubuntu installs just fine so Ironically something thats free runs on this board better than something you pay for. Ill post an update once I do get it running - update I had to use and older version of Windows 10 pro ( 1907 ) and then had to use a usb ethernet dongle, to get connectivity to patch windows up to 20H2, then finally the Armory cache would start and downloaded a driver that works for the on board LAN. Why Microsoft and Asus cant just make windows install every time is something I wish they would address.
