> 3 dayI bought these to round out my piping tip set. Thomas Keller calls for them in his book BOUCHON BAKERY to make eclairs, amongst other items. I find having the full set gives me a range of options as a pastry chef for sizes and applications. These are sturdy and sharp enough to actually cut you and draw blood, so please use caution when prying them out of the end of a piping bag. Ateco tips are made of stainless steel and always cut with precision. Note that in the identifying numbers stamped on each tip that the 8 refers to the fact that it is a large pastry tip. This means it wont fit a standard small Wilton or Ateco coupler. The second number refers to the shape the tip is cut into. in this case, the 6 means its a fine-toothed star, aka French Star. The third number is 0-9, referring to its position in the graduated sizes, 0 being smallest, and 9 being largest, in that series of tip. NOTE AGAIN- THESE WILL NOT FIT A STANDARD WILTON OR ATECO SMALL COUPLER. Also, if you arent using a disposable plastic or parchment made bag, and youre using a canvas or multi-use plastic bag, youll need one dedicated to this general size of tip. Ive owned sets of the stainless Ateco tips for over 10 years. Keep them clean, dry, and safe after each use, and theyll last you a lifetime. Youre more likely to lose them in the garbage disposal, by accident, by theft, or accidentally knocking them into a trash can, long before you ever lose them to wearing out.

> 3 dayTheir wonderful tips. I love the tube they come in for easy use. However, I didn’t realize they were all French tips. Oh well they’re still great!

> 3 dayAt first you get a cookbook and you need a certain size then you end up needing another size, I know, that is what I did until I found these and guess what? Yep I needed every single size. It would have been a lot easier at the beginning of Thomas Kellers Bouchon Cookbook if he had of said, by the way I am using all the french star pastry tips that come in a complete set. They are absolutely beautiful patterns. You can make your pastry look just like a professional if you use the same tools and techniques, mainly the right tips. The teeth are close together and they are just breath taking. If you need one for doughs, there it is and you dont need to push so hard or worry about the bags. It makes everything simple and easy and really cuts down the time but looks like you spent days on them. No kitchen should be without this 10 piece set of french star tips. You will need them more than you know. The price is also fantastic. It is definitely better than buying them one at a time and trying to find each individual number, only to find out the next week you need different sizes. This is the complete set and comes with a plastic carrying case to keep them all together in a small place. They are stainless no problems with rust, no need for the large coupler, that is a waste of time if you use the right size tip. I have one, used it once and gave it to a neighbor. Invest in a set of tips, you will never regret it and it costs about the same as 2 0r 3 if you buy them separate . For just a few dollars it is so much better!! I love these tips. I have not used the open or closed star tips since.
