Wonderful knife for kids and beginners. I purchased 3 to compare before giving one to my son for a scouts campout. Honestly all three knives I purchased were great, but I ended up keeping this one for him for two reasons. First, it has a guard so little hands cant slip forward and get cut. Second, it is sharp but too sharp. Others I looked at were high quality from switzerland and although they were great products they were so incredibly sharp that I couldnt in good conscience give to my son. He could have really injured himself.

I got this knife for a beginning carver friend of mine. It’s excellent for a couple of reasons. Number one, it doesn’t have a point. At first I thought this would be a disadvantage, but it’s actually very wise. You can learn the basic cuts without using the point of your knife. And without proper instruction, many people break the point of their knives off! The next thing that I like about this knife is the thumb guard. It keeps a beginning carver from getting his finger into the blade. The knife arrived sharp enough to use without any extra sharpening. My friend is definitely enjoying it!

I am very pleased with the knife, it came super sharp. The handle is perfect size for my son. I really like that it has a finger guard and rounded tip for safety. This is a great beginner bushcraft/whittling knife!

This is a great knife for grandkids to use. I have one grand son that likes to use the shaving horse, so carving is next. I like the safety features. It is sharp out of the box. First lesson will be how to strop and knife safety.

Wonderful knife for novice carvers, nice & very well made. Sturdy as well. Feels natural in my palm and valuable part of my set! The only drawback is that it comes without any cover for the blade, and the blade comes very sharp.

This knife is absolutely perfect! The short blade is easily controlled and the handle fits your hand comfortably. Its a great addition to anyones collection. A great, solid and durable knife! My son loved it when I gifted it to him. Thanks, BeaverCraft, for another amazing product!

Thank you @beavercraft_tools for the new beginners carving knife. The bandages were a nice touch. Upon opening the box, the knife slipped out without a protective cover. The shipping cover was in the box it was just wedged in with other stuff. The leather cover is really nice and ties on easily. Holding the knife, the handle is a little small for my adult hands but is a great shape and size for the younger person it was designed for. I’m glad the tip is fully rounded, stabs really hurt. First carve on the rubber duck cut out, showed me the knife was sharp, but only sharp about 3/4 the way from the guard to the tip. The beveled part of the rounded tip is not sharp enough to carve. This is ok to start with but would be better if sharp. This is the first carving knife I’ve seen with a finger guard. This is a great idea for a beginners knife. The guard itself is a little too pointy as I stabbed myself behind my thumb guard. Overall a great knife for beginners and as safe as a wood carving knife can be.
