Solid metal, and I like the way the arms clip into the base (sturdy). A little bit of bounce when typing. Fits my 15.6 ASUS perfectly. The black finish looks slick, and I love that it makes my desk feel so much less cluttered. Love love love.

Im very impressed with the quality, the unit assembled easily and is fairly heavy duty. Im using it to just hold up my work laptop off the desk, replacing the binder clip box under the battery to allow better air flow. I dont think its the best solutions for those wanting to type on the laptop, its design is a spring essentially. I use a keyboard, so it does not matter to me. Really like this product!
