If you are buying these for anything other than a replacement part for a 3D printer, dont bother. These TMC2208s come on UART mode which renders them incapable of STEP/DIR driver mode. So long as VM/GND and VIO/GND are connected then all 4 output signals are held at perpetual highs even when EN is high.

Always wanted to upgrade to the Tmc drivers. Bought a SKR 1.3 from Bigtreetech and never looked back! Print quality is excellent, and the sound level is reduced. I have to look sometimes to make sure the printer is still printing. Will use these driver sticks again for future upgrades.

I ordered UART mode to avoid having to do additional soldering, but I still received the standalone version. The soldering pads are very tiny. Hopefully my hands will be steady enough to solder them without breaking it. I understand mix ups happen, but this is annoying.

These are so quiet compared to A4988 drivers that I didn’t realize the motor was moving. Good packaging and nice included heat sinks in pretty blue. Nice!

I purchased these for a CNC build, but ended up using them on my FDM 3D printer. Performance is excellent & highly recommended.

Needed more juice to properly operate my extruder on my Ender 3 / SKR 1.3 setup and this did the job.

Despite the driver being advertised as SPI working mode, you cannot actually drive the motor via the SPI interface. This is because while the SPI_MODE pin is high, SD_MODE is also tied high to its neighbor pin, VCC_IO. You configure the driver over SPI, but need to drive it exclusively with step/dir pins. This was not reflected in the item description.

Power in a few Nema 17 drives, these motor drivers do the job way better than anything else I have used. The heatsinks stay cool to the touch when running. My other drivers burned my hands after running for a minute or two. They are also night and day quieter than most drivers. I will be buying more for future projects.
