> 24 hourThis machine has been excellent for me. I travel a ton for work and all the checks I write for our business, I scan a copy of the check with the invoice. So nice that it doesnt have to be plugged in to scan or connected to your computer - it just saves straight to the SD card. The one bummer is that this version, the 820 does not have 2 sided printing. Besides that, this is my new best friend for an assistant whose always on the go and doing business on the road.

> 24 hourThis scanner works great and does not seem made cheap. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because you cannot use your internet while connected to the scanner to download docs. I am using an andriod table, if you are using a pc or something that has usb you can use internet and scanner connection at the same time. If my tablet had an sd card slot I could have just used that. So I connect to my scanner, scan all my stuff and use the recomended app to download the docs to my table, then I re connect to the wifi and upload to dropbox because you only have two choices, dropbox or facebox. I already pay for amazon prime, but its takes extra steps to do it that way. Still did not figure out how to scan as pdf. Called brother and they have great customer service, my only complaint was its made in china and not the U.S. They said they hear that a lot which is good news. Also when u call Amazon and u get connected to another country, ask for someone in the U.S. To support American jobs. Dont you hate these long reveiews?

> 24 hourThe descripton says that it can duplex 5ppm....I ordered this and when I came I did not find anywhere it said how to duplex scan.... I went on Brothers website and found out that this model DOES NOT DO DUPLEX SCANNING.....I checked all the other listings and they all said that this model does duplex scanning....Well, it does not do duplex scanning, DS-920DW does..... I do like the quality of this portable scanner....The manual is 100% on the disc or you have to get it from the manufacture website....I am going to have to return this and get Model DS-920DW, which does duplex scanning....

> 24 hourThe scanner works well. The only issue I have so far is the software that I want to use it mostly for, BR Receipts. The receipt software is to be a bit more complicated than I thought for gas receipts. I want it to read the logistics like price, gas loaded, etc. I am not sure it will do this and it seems this may just be for basic receipts. Jury is still out trying to figure it. Photos went like mad, great scanner. But I am all done with those so unless I get receipts going, documents may be scarce and it sits a lot for the price. As of 2/20/18, I can say this overall, the hardware is top rated for my use, I love having it. For the software, useless pretty much for this day and age. BR Receipts is not UX friendly, I have no real use for the software, but it all evens out on the tremendous use of the scanner itself.

> 24 hourOnly had this a day so perhaps not enough time to really put it through its paces so more first impressions. Overall it works well if you forget about the WiFi side and poor app/interface software. The software ergonomics and usability are poor by todays standards. Seems almost like a hardware company with software as an afterthought. Good stuff It scans pretty quickly and quality is good. Hardware looks good and seems solid. Simple operation if you just scan to the SD card or connect directly to PC Bad stuff Software that comes with the scanner sucks, poor interface surprised really very basic, tried the BR receipts and gave up pretty quickly too much effort and configuration needed. Have to register to get the add-on software, its not on the CD that comes with it. Manual is overly wordy and complicated. Struggled with the WiFi could get it to connect directly and seemed (according to status LED) be connected to my router but could get the software to talk to it then. I was doing this on myMac rather than mobile or iPad, maybe that doesnt work, but that cant make sense.

> 24 hourSolid product, but stopped working after about a year. I dont know why. Glad I bought the Square trade plan as they are replacing it. I will give brother some credit as they worked with me on the phone to ensure it really was a hardware issues (even though it was out of warranty). Overall, not a bad product. Does what you need it to. Probably if you use it a lot I would expect to replace after a year.

> 24 hourI have used several desktop scanners, but sometimes you are working on a project or task that takes you away from your desk, but still need a scanner. rather than lugging around a big one or going back and forth to your main desk, this is an amazing solution. It is light, easy to transport and most importantly, provides and excellent image. Yes, you must recognize what this is and its limitations. It is not the fastest or highest quality scanner you will ever use. Its portable, easy to use, and very accurate, but not the very best image possible. It was incredibly easy to set up right out of the box. I highly recommend this machine.

> 24 hourDont accidentally drop the battery in your bowl of soup while unnecessarily fiddling with its parts. Itll cost you hours of trying to figure out how and where you can buy another battery, as it doesnt work even while plugged into the wall without the battery. And once you do finally figure out the number to call to ask for a replacement battery youll flip your lid when you hear that its $55 for new battery. You, like me, will probably think to yourself Self, it just doesnt seem possible that the batterys value is almost half of the entire system itself. And then youd be correct when answering yourself by saying Its not, self. Its not. Theyre just screwing you because youre an idiot and you dropped your battery in your mushroom soup. To which you may quip back Regardless my IQ, self, it just seems wrong. And if you did in fact say that to yourself then youd definitely respond to yourself one last time with That goes without saying, self. They are certainly not concerned with their customers once theyve bought the product. 2 stars of spite for myself for dropping the battery in the first place. Otherwise 0 stars for sure.

> 24 hourFirst time I tried to scan a sheet. Error message. Paper Jam. How?, it hasnt scan anything. Tried again. This time, New error message. Card corrupted. How? It hadnt been out of its original package. Direction on error message are non-existent. Maybe companies should write a manual in just one language with information. that language group, instead of cramming more than one group. Concentrate on the customer and less on your profits.

> 24 hourYay for an affordable portable wireless scanner with a rechargeable battery! Downside: to dl pictures to mobile devices, have to get on the scanners WiFi and then go to its ip, where the interface is a real drag, or use the even lousier app. It scans beautifully, though, and the SD card lets you do gobs at once. Its a pain to check on your scanning results, and you get no preview, so its a very good thing it works well, so far. I preferred the ION Air Copy, which was much more user-friendly, but mine crapped out pretty fast (blew tiny screws, and streaks apparent in scans) and I wanted something more durable and robust. The Brother DS 820W has several file format export options and two quite decent resolution settings. Its not the perfect portable scanner, but if Brother gets their act together and provides a usable app, it will be hands-down the winner.
