> 24 hourI bought this specifically to archive mail and past receipts. Its very small and scans paperwork quickly which is great. It also scans longer documents- legal and lengthy receipts have been no problem. The software is functional but very annoying to use. Id highly recommend increasing the default contrast to a higher number- maybe something like 79; and then scanning in greyscale. Id also recommend enabling multi-page scanning and setting the timeout value to something smaller like 10 seconds. This allows you to easily feed in the first page of a document and then hit scan, once the first page finishes (no earlier!) add in the second page. It will add the next page to the document perfectly. I would also recommend saving it directly to PDF in a directory of your choosing. As a hint, be sure to have the input and ouput sides of the scanner clear- if it gets gummed up at all it will cause odd stretch artifacts in the document. Similarly, if you feed in a second page before the first page fully stops, it will treat the two pages as one large page which you dont want. Also be sure to set the rail that guides the paper in for each document, otherwise the paper will get crooked and the scan will not turn out well. Comparing this to other scanners- I would only use this for documents & receipts. I would not scan pictures with this. For that I have another scanner- a Canon CanoScan 900F MkII. That scanner scans pictures very well. It also scans documents well, producing filesizes smaller than the output of this Brother scanner, but it takes MUCH longer to process and scan. I also shopped the other brother scanners. I picked this one because I wanted duplex capability which saves a lot of time. Unfortunately the only way to enable/disable duplex is via the settings menu. I wish there were two buttons to scan duplex scan and normal scan. Even though I wish it was easier to use, the duplex capability is still great. The wifi model didnt seem attractive- I didnt like how you would have reduced ability to control settings and also I didnt like how you are unable to connect the scanner via USB as a normal TWAIN device (it forces you to scan to a SD card if you dont want to use wifi). So overall + Fast + Multi page & double sided scanning works well + Fair price - Image processing in SW is clunky / not as strong as competition - Duplex mode is annoying to enable and disable - Some settings are hard to find in software

> 24 hourScans fine, the included program is very basic. While scanning it does have an issue with the page going crooked. Also cannot fully scan long receipts as it stops half way so have to tear them in half to continue it.

> 24 hourPerfect scanner. Its very compact, SO much faster to work with than a flat bed scanner, really great quality scans (make sure you take a look at your settings). Setting options with the built in software are both simple and everything I would ever need: scan to multiple file types, black/grey/color, 200-600 dpi options, duplex, create a multi-page PDF from many pages.... PERFECT. Ive just spent all Saturday digitizing everything I could, filling our shredder and recycling bin, and it feels so good! P.S. It comes with a carrying/storage case.

> 24 hourIm using on an on an IMAC OS X-1.16 with theater displayand no drivers, no plug & play, no emailed drivers. Had exact same problem with Epson, so it must be my skill-set is lacking key elements.. Brought refurbished for exactly these reasons in spite of Companys and Amazons hype: any idiot can use it. We know Amazon has no more customer service and Im Way too busy enjoying my retirement life to stay on hold all day with someone who cant read. write or cipher in American English Ditto for my two wizard sons! ! Unless you need a compact door stop, dear readers - forget it!

> 24 hourFor a document scanner, this is simple and works well. All I needed it to do was duplex scan documents to a PDF, and the DSmobile scanning application works perfectly for that. This is not a photo scanner, but for the sake of providing an accurate review, I ran a professional photo print through it. The print is was on Fuji Pearl paper, which is glossy and has a slightly metallic appearance. The scan worked OK, but there were streaks in the image, and some parts were a bit blurry. Again, this is not a photo scanner, but thats why I gave it a 3/5 in that category. Performs as expected.

> 24 hourI use this at work to scan checks and documents at my desk so I dont have to compete for the office copier/scanner. The scanner is not too slow and the quality is great. Scanning both sides of the page at once is wonderful. It also gives you time to insert another page without having to start over. This is only for occasional scanning, not huge scanning jobs. The only down side I can see is that it saves each page individually. I havent figured out how to combine the pages into one pdf file, but Im sure theres a way. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this scanner.

> 24 hourThis guaranteed refurbished product, arrived on time, and looked brand new. All packaging was perfect. I fist encountered a problem when the set up disc would not work, it read nothing. Do I went to the brother site and installed all drivers, etc. I tested the product and it worked...eureka! about an hour later I needed to use it. Now the computer says it can not be communicated with it. Re did everything, tried twain but the same answer. Then got it ti work again for 1 sheet then, you guessed it...the scanner went incommunicado again. I finally realized that the problem is with me not amazon. I foolishly thought that a factory refurbished product was actually supposed to perform as if new. I now realize that it is only supposed to look new, not work like new. After all it is not how it works but that it looks marvelous and this indeed, looked marvelous!!!

> 24 hourWorks fairly well but every once in a while I have to scan something a second time when doing many pages. The duplex feature is excellent. Cant figure out the multiple PDF option tho. Even when I have that selected it still scans everything as single pages and not as one document
