> 3 dayI just received them and we had a couple rainy days so I had to wait to put them outside to charge them. I am assuming it is not OK to put them on the windowsill. It would be nice if you could. Is it the heat that they need or is it the UV light? And if you have a UV light, would that work? Otherwise I just received them and they say it’ll take a week or so for you to notice a difference

> 3 dayWe ordered a product called Natures Fresh but the product that was sent was labeled Basic Concepts which was confusing. Natures Fresh was recommended by Consumer Reports for odors, mildew, mold, dust, etc. Upon opening the bag which contained 4 pouches with hooks, there was a very pungent odor, one that I felt in the back of my throat the first evening. We hoped that the odor would dissipate after airing out for a day. We strategically placed the bags in the laundry room, master bath, kitchen and family room. By the next morning, we did not notice the odor from the bags as we had the first evening. We have noticed the air to seem fresher and breathing though sinuses to be clearer. My hope was for this product to eliminate indoor irritants and allergens in a nontoxic, odor-free manner. I am hoping that this product will do the trick, but havent used it long enough to be sure.

> 3 dayI was taken aback by the smell of the actual product when I opened the bag BUT they eliminate offensive odors and that scent dissipates quickly...I will be recharging them in the sun in 2 weeks but I believe they will hold up like they say they will.

> 3 dayAfter about a week of use I cant tell that much of a difference. I mean I smell the bamboo charcoal slightly, but I can also still smell other odors that I was hoping to be removed.

> 3 dayRejuvenate For Up To 2 Years ... in the sunlight for a couple of hours I can find absolutely no scientific evidence that UV light has any effect on activated carbon. I measured the amount of UVA and UVB light that gets through the double layer bag holding the charcoal: in direct sunlight, producing 262 microwatts/cm^2 the bag blocks all but 39 microwatts/cm^2 (only 15% gets through). The top layer of charcoal would stop any light from reaching anything below. The standard ways to regenerate activated carbon are: Regeneration / Active Carbon Activated carbon is an expensive product. In most of the cases the cost of replacing the saturated carbon would be prohibitive. It should therefore be regenerated, and four methods have been developed for this purpose: Steam regeneration This method is restricted to regenerating carbon which has only retained a few very volatile products. Thermal regeneration By pyrolysis and burning off of adsorbed organic substances. In order to avoid igniting the carbon, it is heated to about 800 °C in a controlled atmosphere. This is the widely used method and regenerates the carbon very well, but it has two disadvantages: it requires considerable investment in either a multiple-hearth furnace and it causes high carbon losses. Chemical regeneration Some process based on the action of a solvent used at a temperature of approximately 100 °C and with a high pH. Biological regeneration This method of regeneration has not yet been applied on an industrial scale.

> 3 dayI live in a very small unit with one small dog (that is fastidiously clean. But with the onset of cold wintertime (and closed windows) our living quarters started to smell punky, no matter how carefully I cleaned and laundered. I bought the Nature Fresh bags as an experiment. It doesnt rely on any artificial fragrances to mask odors and the bags/sachets can be refreshed without any significant effort or expense on my part. As soon as my order arrived, I placed two of them in the small main living area and the other two in the closet. Within hours, I noticed that the closed, fustiness odors of our living area seemed to have been reduced. By the next day, I could no longer detect that troubling punky odor. Thats one quick result -- at a modest cost. The only reason this isnt a full 5-star rating is that I live in the Pacific NW, where rain is the winter norm and two hours of direct sunlight is infrequent. So, re-charging / refreshing the bags by placing them in direct sunlight for the recommended 1-2 hours isnt that easy. This is a minor challenge and Ill just take advantage of sunlit days as best I can. Otherwise, I am very pleased with results and am very impressed how nicely made the fabric charcoal bags/sachets are. The charcoal is fully enclosed and there is no risk of charcoal dust or particles seeping out. The manufacturers added two nice touches to their product: a good-quality grommet is placed in one corner so the bags can be hung on a hanger or hook, AND 4 hanging hooks are included -- no need to shop or rummage around for hangee thingees . How nice to be able to reduce persistent unpleasant odors in an environmentally safe way!

Greater than one weekWe have 7 cats so I’m constantly looking for ways to deal with kitty smells. I put one of these in the room we keep the main litter box in. A couple hours later, I was cleaning the litter box so the cover was off my teenager came in and said “I’m not choking on the smell in here” That sold me!
