Creality Original Metal Extruder Drive Feeder Upgrade for Ender 3 Pro / V2 / 5/5 Plus/Pro, CR-10 Series, CR-10S, CR 20/20 Pro 3D Printer Accessories Parts CR10 CR7 CR10S MK8 Kit

This upgrade to my Ender 3 printer helped with my print issues I had. It made the filament feed correctly into the Bowden tube.

I bought this because my Ender 3 V2 plastic extruder cracked under the bearing. (Dont they all?) After the kit arrived I examined it to make sure all the parts were there. They were. There has been a positive change in the design to use a normal bowden tube fitting just like the original plastic extruder. The product picture is no longer current. Unfortunately during assembly I found that the bushing that the tension arm rotates on was too short. This resulted in the arm not moving when the bolt was tightened. I fixed this in two ways. First I sanded off the anodizing from the bottom of the arm gaining a little more clearance. Not enough. Second I put the little bushing in a drill and used a small file to lengthen the small diameter tube towards its top. After a couple tries it was long enough to tighten down but not keep the tension arm from moving. Now the extruder works great even with harder filaments like wood and PETG. I suspect the part is correct when machined but after the red anodizing there is not enough clearance. Pretty easy fix but shouldnt have had to do it.

This product works as intended for an Ender 3 V2. Easy enough to install (there are online videos to help if needed). Replaced the stock version that cracked at the Bowden tube connection. Great product.

This replacement/upgrade extruder is made of high-quality parts which is nice considering how often upgrade components are complete junk. It works as expected and does a good job.

Did not come with instructions

Works as it should. Seems like nice quality. No instructions, but easy to figure out.

Went together easy but was missing a small washer. Iwould have given all stars if it weren’t for that. Lever has a solid feel. It has the Creality tag in the bag.

Extruder base does not have a threaded output for the fitting to the Bowden tube, I think I was supposed to put a supplied plastic plug into the non threaded hole and thread the fitting into it, that did not work for me. Put all the original parts back on and ordered the correct extruder. The printer is an Ender 3 V2 and it is in the list of compatible printers for this part.

quick release claw breaks easily

Upgrading to a metal extruder is a must on these printers. Mine had a slight burr on the feed hole right before PTFE tube which caused the filament to get shredded as the extruder would retract and feed during printing. Didn’t affect print quality but it made a mess. If you see plastic shavings all over your printer after installing this make sure the filament path is perfectly smooth. A little sand paper fixed the problem for me.
