As a habit I like to verify all new drives / chips before using them. This was done through an Asus ROG Strix external enclosure on a USB 3.0 gen 1. In comparison to a Samsung 970 Evo on the same setup, this wrote fractionally faster, but read fractionally slower. To be serious it is mostly limited by the port in this case, but I am glad to see close to equal numbers here. A complete fill using 100mb-5gb files yielded 186mb/s average speeds and all files were successfully verified. You will see much higher speeds on a built-in M.2 port, or even on a USB 3.2 port with the right external enclosure. Sadly I cannot give you those numbers currently as Im on a 2015 HP G2 Mini. Either way this is a good buy for the price. Unless you are building a brand new machine it is unlikely your computer or peripherals can even utilize the speed this drive is capable of, let alone a faster one.

Use the Crucial Storage Executive software. It makes a huge difference!

Bought for my gaming PC as an upgrade from my 970 evo 500gb. My system is only PCIE 3.0 so I wont get much faster speeds now but in the future I will see the improvements. Im just happy to have an extra 500gb to use.

Runs hot. It takes much longer to exhaust the cache than I would have imagined. You will hit the limit and get throttled down to maybe 100MBps if you are doing transfers over 100 GB, but this is probably not a scenario most users will find themselves in. Incredible overall performance and value for the money. Perfect for storing photos, etc. Honestly fine for gaming, though I recommend a heatsink.

I was using a 8TB QVO but was only using up about 3TB. I’m playing through my Steam library and deleting games after completion for mostly single player games. I decided to go with NVME because I have the room on the MB and wanted to get rid of the slower storage. This drive updates and loads games faster than the SATA SSD. I also noticed most of the stuttering is nonexistent now in newer games. 13700kf,3090.

Crucial does not disappoint! Im using this NVMe as the main drive for Windows 11 OS and programs on a new PC build with a Crucial SSD for data. Excellent performance!

Enabling Momentum Cache (via free Crucial software) spiked numbers dramatically. XPlane-12 loads times increased significantly (switched from SATA SSD to NVME w/ momentum cache). Yes, I have a backup UPS, so momentum cache is the way to go.

I wasnt sure if 5GB/s was theoretical or what to expect so I looked at the current Samsung drive I had which was 1TB in size... looking at the benchmarks in the reviews, the Crucial one was scoring about 3000MB/s for the Plus model in real world usage. The benchmarks on my Samsung drive was less than that, so this seemed like a safe update for me. I needed the storage and didnt want to rely on external disks which can get annoying at times (just on portability and cloud apps, etc). I bought an NVME enclosure and bought EaseUS license for a year to clone the disk. This unit comes with software to clone the disk from what the instructions said but I read that after buying EaseUS license.... I had about 300GB used on the disk I had and in about 25 minutes, the disk was cloned. I shut down, put the new drive in, and booted up... no issues and it seemed to go a bit faster than before. So for $225, I got more storage and a slight bump in speed. It wasnt $400... a more affordable $225. But I didnt get the P3 model... I got the P3 PLUS model which has more speed than the P3 and it only about $40 more... seems like a good investment considering the results. So get this... definitely... but get the PLUS model. $40 can be a lot for people but if youre going to spend $200 on a disk, spend an extra $40 and get a bit of a boost in speed.

In Summary: SSD works fine ONLY via fresh OS install, no help from Crucial. This is a Dell XPS15 9570. On Crucial website, the product compatibility checker says this 4TB drive will work in this system. So I order, update my BIOS to latest 1.27, clone according to the provided Acronis software, and install the new drive. PC dies in the BIOS screen. I call crucial, absolutely no help! I can barely understand the guy, and he tells me the website must have a mistake, it wont work. Determined, I tried a fresh OS (win10) on this, and it works. I dont know why it failed, even if the cloning is bad, the PC should still recognize the drive in the BIOS-- I would have expected OS loading errors. (?) A side note on Crucial: They used to have THE BEST customer service in the industry. They now have THE WORST. It appears that the new Micron CEO has off-shored support, to their detriment. I hope their products are ok, though it looks like the Micron CEO has off shored that too. (Stockholders, are you listening? ) The winner here: Dell. Ive not been a huge fan of Dell, but website support from them (And a well designed system thats easy to upgrade) was great here. The loser: Crucial-- Theyve gone from Hero to Zero in my book.
