You can wear this around your neck, or twist it around something else, or twist it to stand by itself. The brightest setting isnt super-bright, but its more than enough for reading, or most other things Id want to use this for. Washed dishes with the middle setting last night just for fun. Easier on/off wearing compared to a headlamp. I set and unset rat traps in a tree after dark and before sunrise or else I end up catching birds attracted by the peanut bait. I need both hands for the traps so this light frees both hands. Its also ideal for reading with the 3 adjustable light levels, you can selected a level of lighting thats comfortable for your eyes. My wife saw it, likes to read in bed and of course this light device is attractive, so she confiscated it. Im back to the headlamp.

This worked exactly as described. Its lightweight, charges quickly, holds a charge for a long time, produces a good amount of light (and adjusts well to various brightnesses) and is comfortable around my neck (even when using for an extended period). What really surprised me is that I was able to use it while lying on my back, without any discomfort. And it provides a better, sharper, more directed light than any of my bedside lamps. I really like this.
