I reload and shoot a ton. As a test I’ve washed first with a few different soaps and each time can still see and/or smell residue. This does really seem to clean off the heavy metals better than normal hand soap. I now keep one bottle in each shooting bag.

My local indoor range has industrial sized containers of this for after shooting. Cant speak to microscopic levels but it does indeed easily wash off all visible lead from my skin. And when you shoot .22 long rifle from bulk all day trust me... you need this!

D-Lead works great and has a pleasant smell. Gets the job done without being harsh on your hands.

After I load magazines or handle bullets or when I come home from the range this is the cleaning product I use. It gets rid of everything, has a good smell and leaves my hands clean, best option for me after a day with firearms.

Ive been using this soap since I first started shooting a decade ago, and I dont think I have lead poising yet, so I cant complain! Really though, it has a good scent, and it does its job. Just remember to wash your clothes after shooting too, as traces of lead can accumulate there too.

I was the environmental manager and part of the job included a regulatory compliance program for a fire assay lab that performed precious metals analysis. The employees used loads of lead foil daily. They would routinely clean lab with industrial soap. We underwent a OSHA compliance inspection where the inspector took wipe samples of the lab surfaces. We found in spite of our best efforts virtually everything in the lab was contaminated. The floor, chairs, benchtops, the phone, the key boards, everything. I looked for an effective deleading soap and I found D-Lead. We conducted subsequent lead sampling after using this product and had no hits for lead. Lead sloughs off early on to your hands and will subsequently contaminate everything you touch. You can test for yourself by buying a lead paint sample kit from a hardware store and check your work surfaces as well as areas you may have contaminated. The lead paint test kit will show color change when used to test contaminated materials and surfaces. There no color change when the contaminated surface is cleaned with D-Lead. I am a chemist and I play with dangerous materials if improperly managed. I also shoot and cast my own bullets. I swear by this soap and I use it whenever I work with lead. It works like a top. You can by a lead test kit and see the results for yourself.
