Decimator MD-HX HDMI and SDI Cross Converter with Scaling & Frame Rate Conversion

> 3 dayThese have saved me so many times, I keep a fresh stock of them at work to fill in any area they may need to fit in a HDMI/SDI environment. If you run black magic gear, then you need a scaler, these should be them. Also the fact you can go between any of its ports make it a swiss army knife of AV.

Greater than one weekI bought it to make a teleprompter, To do this, I used several options as HDMI-SDI convertion, SDI distribution, vertical flip scaler, and everything works great.

> 3 dayDoes what I need it to do. Happy with my purchase. Was not happy with the way it was shipped to me (which is why I only gave it 4 stars). It arrived on my porch opened and with no exterior packaging. Fortunately, all the pieces were still in the box.

> 3 dayI have a variety of Decimator, as well as Blackmagic, AJA, Kramer, Datavideo and Roland converters and distribution amplifiers. They all do what they state they will do. However, as time passes the Decimator units have revealed built-in product obsolescence. The Decimator LCD display works well when new. But, over time, the LCD display will become difficult to read. A known issue that Decimator will not acknowledge or resolve. The solution is an easy two solder points and ribbon cable swap - if you could get a replacement display module (a $15 part on the open market), which Decimator will not sell. From now on Ill be sticking with other manufacturers who dont design in product failure. Oh, wait... what was I thinking... when the LCD display is all but useless you can always bring a laptop with you to make adjustments! ;-)

> 3 dayVery pricey unit, but it does work. The menus are TERRIBLE, being confusing and illogical. Hoped for more options, too. A little finicky itself used on for finicky HDMI devices. But it has enough conversion options to find something that will work. Also, the power supply and cord was surprisingly cheap and fragile, fraying open right at the input strain relief. Come on meow, USE BETTER quality wire! This is supposed to be a tour grade product (and it is) so it should have a better power supply. It is built like a tank otherwise, the unit is VERY heavy! I mean heavy!

> 3 dayIve used Decimators for a number of productions, especially when converting laptops to SDI for broadcast, and theyve never failed me--PC and MacBook HDMI outputs can be converted with relative ease. This may require some set-up, depending on your source and required output, so do take time to download the Decimator software; it will be easier than trying to go through the physical menu on the device. You will also find plenty of excellent resources on YouTube that will help you configure it.

17-11-2024The Decimator MD-HX Cross Converter does an excellent job with very low latency and great resolution. We have a Blackmagic Design Mini Converter which I like too but it has more lag two frames more and runs hotter, also doesnt do HDMI. The Price is the same so its a no brainer for me, we will be buying more Decimators. Note: the screen is small hard to read not really an improvement over the dip switches on the Blackmagic but the build quality is better and the price is the same. Its a lot more versatile with horizontal & vertical flip which gives you a lot of options for camera mounting so pretty much a no brainer.

22-11-2024Super versatile, reasonably easy to use. I have several and they all have worked flawlessly. I find the LCD less than easy to view. I REALLY wish there was an iOS app for settings. Yes, Id have to carry around a lightning to USB cable, but thats way more convenient than lugging a laptop.
