Bought this box for my brothers ashes till we can put him to rest in the ocean where he wants to sleep forever. Its beautiful and have had a lot of friends and family compliment it.

Gorgeous box, well made and solid. Better than I hoped

Beautiful box in picture, even more so when I got it. I got it for one of my great grandaughters, indeed I was so impressed I just ordered a 2nd for another great grand! Does have that strong stain smell when opened but leaving it open for a couple days, if that doesnt work Ill try a shallow bowl of baking soda to absorb the odor.

It came chipped

I tried to write a review on this before and my original review was declined, what a surprise. Any way, I had purchased this box for my sister as a Christmas gift. The box got to my sister in a very timely manner but the box was covered in white mold (I had pictures but again, they were declined). I had requested a replacement, which was accepted and I appreciated it very much. It got there in a couple of days. The second box? You guessed it! Mold again! But this time it was white and green. I will say the mold in the second box wasn’t as bad as the first. Other than the mold it’s a beautiful box and my sister did enjoy it but it’s quite gross and disappointing that this happened.

Arrived covered in mold. I saw other reviews saying the same thing and thought it was a fluke... apparently not.

At first look this looked like what I thought it would. But after a better look It was easy to see that the craftsmanship isn’t 100%. Around one of the hinges some of the wood was either chipped due to the hinges or the wood was damaged previous to putting it together. When the lid is closed one side doesn’t lay flat. And within the design on the lid there are splinters. There are also cracks within the design on the lid. This wasn’t double checked prior to being shipped and it shows. Worried about how long this would hold up. Bought this to gift and now I don’t think I will gift it considering the quality. Wish it would have been double checked prior to shipping or even the craftsmanship given a bit more care. Sad that this wasn’t what I thought it would be.

It feels substantial and the top and bottom fit beautifully together. Its not like those thin crappy boxes that could easily break. I think I could stand on this thing and it would hold up but Im not gonna try that. However it did come mildewy on the inside. I cleaned it out and left it open for a few days but the smell lingers a little. Its a shame because it seems like a common problem that could be eliminated by putting a silica gel packet inside the boxes.
