These connectors are perfect for small wire splices, Although they are supposed to penetrate the insulation, I always strip off the insulation and twist the bare connectors together before crimping on the Dolphin; I guess I mainly use it for the insulation of the connectors. I have used thousands of these and have never had a genuine Dolphin come loose. The Chinese knockoffs may be a little cheaper, but for the minimal cost difference I will stick with the known quality product.

For the longest time I would carry around in my tool box bags of Grey & Blue wire nuts for my low-voltage work. Now I mostly only carry these.
