> 3 dayAt first, I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but at the price, I figured Id give it a try. Ive only used it on oak and pine so far. On the oak it leaves a decent mark, on the pine, It really leaves an impression :).

> 3 dayI had seen these things for a couple years now and wasnt too sure if they would work as well as they were advertised. Boy was I wrong. These and great and I couldnt tell you how many times I have made an excuse to use them since I got them in the mail. I have used them to knock door hinge pins out, set brad nails in trim, and a few other things and they have been fantastic, no issue whatsoever. These are a great gift for that DIY dad or friend you have in your life.

> 3 dayLast time I had to remove the hinge pins from one of my doors I had to unscrew one of the hinges from the jam to get the pin out. I tried the same pin with this and about 6-7 strikes later it was out! This definitely beats going at it with a hammer and center punch or similar tool, especially for hinges that are in difficult to get to places. I tried the nailset on some 16 and 18 gauge nails and had so-so results. There is no doubt that a hammer and regular nailset is quicker and drives the nail farther, however in places hard to reach with a hammer this could prove invaluable. Besides that, my only real complaint is that the grooves cut into the part you hold onto are kind of sharp dont feel good in the hand during use. Otherwise, theyre worth having in your toolbox.

> 3 dayI have a set of various sized nail setters that have seen a lot of use over the years, but have never seen a spring-loaded setter until I saw this set. At first, I decided against ordering it... just couldn’t see how it would work... but decided to give it a chance. After playing around with it for a while, it won’t replace my old school nail setters, but there are applications where this is a very handy tool to have on hand. It does deliver more force than I expected. Additionally, you get the hinge pin removal tool, which actually does a decent job and reduces the risk of damaging a door with an errant hammer tap. For the price, there is no excuse for not adding this to your tool kit.

Greater than one weekIf youve never used one of these youre missing out. I recommend this to anyone that needs to remove a stubborn door hinge pin. In the past I used a hammer and chisel or a screwdriver to remove pins and I was always worried I would mar the hinge or door. These are the perfect replacement, no more marring! Be careful these things can really move the hinge pin and knock it completely out. I just use it to loosen the pins, I dont want the pin messing up the carpet... Great little tool that does the job.

Greater than one weekI liked the concept of this style of nail set in theory would be slightly more comfortable and efficeint than the traditional style but in reality i find it to be quite the opposite. Less comfortable to use in the hand and functions the same or less efficently than your traditional nail set.

> 3 dayAlways good to have a pair of these in your toolbox. They work well for their intended purpose though the impact force is not as strong as I expected it to be. These also have straight ridges, instead of rounded ones, and will start to chafe your fingers if you need to use them for a sustained amount of time. I have a few other name-brand punches that are better but for the overall value, I can’t really complain.

> 3 dayPositives: Priced affordably enough that even a casual DIYer should get one. The nail set does a decent job setting small nails and staying on the head. The hinge pin driver also does a pretty good job of knocking the door hinge pins loose. This is a well priced and functional set for most people’s toolbox. Less positive/things to consider:I also own a nail set/hinge pin driver made by Ares. There is a clear difference in the two sets. Aside from the slight difference in length, (see second picture) the Ares set feels noticeably heavier. Obviously, in a spring punch set, extra weight is extra force on impact. For most people, probably not a big deal, but if you are doing it all day, one strike is better than two. The slightly longer length also make the Ares a little easier to handle, but again, only significant if you use it a lot. The second thing I was less than thrilled with was the actual design of the grooves. They are milled out straight grooves, which means you are pulling on and sliding a fairly rigid edge when you pull and release against those grooves, they aren’t rounded or smoothed out at all. This makes for a good gripping edge, but it could get rather abrasive in a hurry on your finger pads if you have to use them for an extended period of time. Takeaway: Very decent set for most DIYer toolboxes. Not as heavy or refined as some others (Ares), but at 1/3 the price, they are a much more budget friendly option for most people, and still do the job just fine.
