> 24 hourThe price of the pipe tap set is great. I have spent the same amount on a single tap at my local hardware store. The quality of the tools is very good. I have used two of them already with excellent results.

> 24 hourused this to chase the threads in a water heater. the next day there were spots of rust where I let the water sit too long I suppose. probably should oil these after every wet use.

> 24 hourGreat value. Will cut threads in anything a mortal person can drill a hole big enough for these taps... Soft metals and plastic. I would not use these on steel or cast iron except to clean up a damaged thread. I cut some nice threads in 1/2” polycarbonate for a fish tank filter. Great capability to have in the tool box. Great in a pinch or for fabricating things for fish, aquaculture, irrigation, or around a farm.

> 24 hourI used the 1 npt tap to clean some very rusty threads in a cast iron well pump. The tap did great and cut well. Tap was undamaged after using.

> 24 hourIm an experienced instrument maker, as a shop supervisor and as owner of a business that has produced scientific instruments for many years. Almost all my tapping needs use machine thread taps, but very occasionally need pipe taps. I bought this Drill America NPT tap set to eventually replace my old pipe taps that were getting dull, and put the new set in the tool crib for future use. Several months later, well past to return date, I tried to use the 3/4 NPT tap from that set to tap a hole in a nylon plate. The tap turned very hard for such soft material, and produced a ragged hole with no chips or usable thread. Then I tried to use the 1/4 NPT tap from the Drill America set to tap a brass piece with the same results, and had to finish that job using one of my old taps. Although these Drill America taps look good, the cutting teeth are shallow and will not shave thread and produce chips in any material, even using oversized holes and plenty of cutting fluid. Trying to make thread with this set is like trying to use a threaded pipe as a tap, it doesnt work. Ive contacted Drill American about this problem, and offered to send them a tap for them to look at. Drill American has never responded. Ron Hilliard

> 24 hourThese are very soft, maybe good for some plastics or low grade aluminum but definitely not meant for steel of any kind. One use, didnt cut threads, rather, the material took the teeth off of the tap. Definitely not what you want for a tap. Maybe I selected the non heat treated option? Kidding. Steer clear of this set, not worth buying.
