When using the 2000 and 3000 grit sandpapers on a project, I discovered that the reported grits are wrong. I used over 4 foot of the 2000 grit only to discover it was leaving scratches deeper than the 1500 grit. The 3000 grit probably closer to 4-5000 grit. It didnt matter how much pressure I used, or how much or little water was added, it never felt like I was sanding anything. Dont waste your money on either the 2000 or 3000 grits. I ended up burning through my color coat trying to figure out why I was still getting scratches. Take my advise and buy the 3M paper instead, youll be happy the job is going to be done right the first time.

I ordered and used the 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit paper for tuning up a couple hand planes was happy with the results. The backing is more of a plastic than paper which made it a lot easier to peel off the plane body and surfacing plate since it was more resistant to tearing. I’ve tried a number of different brands of paper, including the 600 and 800 grits of this brand, and the adhesive on these rolls have the perfect balance of holding power and release. Most other brands either leave residue/adhesive behind after removing the paper, which is a pain when using a surfacing plate, or the edges start to curl especially with moisture. This stuff stays put and peels up in a breeze. Can’t speak for every application but for flattening/polishing I would highly recommend.

I use these for my micro sander. I cut little squares out of the roll and they stay on even when wet sanding. 2000 grit works perfectly. $28 and I have enough for pretty much forever.
