Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

This arrives in a large box that somehow is also surprisingly small. I think that gives an early indication of the small but mighty quality of this vacuum. When you take this out, you will see that it has a small charge. Resist the urge to use this, and, instead, plug it in. Now, its going to take some time to charge. Therefore, be patient. While this is supposed to be wall mounted, we could not do that since we do not have a closet with an outlet and we didnt want to leave this visible on a wall. (And, perhaps, more importantly, we didnt want to have to spackle and paint when we moved on from this appliance). Therefore, we just charge this in the spare bedroom and then tuck it in a closet when done. And, it does need to be noted that this cannot take the place of your corded vacuum. Even with a full charge, the battery life is very short: maybe twenty to thirty minutes. (And, charger is not fast). When you pick this up, it is so easy to bump the activation button. In fact, Im not certain I have ever picked this up and NOT turned it on by accident. Maybe the button needs a cover or to be placed in a different area? And, just as a note, you must squeeze the on button for this to work. You cannot turn it on and it stays on. You must always hold the trigger down. I think thats a pretty serious hint that this isnt meant to clean you entire home in one session. So, why the five stars? Because this works like nothing else. We have two Roombas on each floor. They run every other day and everything seems very clean. But when I slowly ran this over the areas rugs, I was stunned at not only the hair, but the debris. I mean ... stunned! When I was done with all of the area rugs, I had dumped the bin three times. My better-half was as surprised as I. And, of course, he ended up vacuuming all of the cars ... and even took it to my dads house (because hes on the same Roomba program as we are) and doing all of my dads rugs! Hes wild about this thing! Its his new toy. The power and effectiveness is positively incomparable! We have been using this for about a month. Our opinion has not changed. This is a truly amazing device that allows for next-level cleaning (and if your children have allergies or asthma, you know how important a deep clean is). Weighing everything, I can only very highly recommend this. Another way to keep your home super tidy! Wow!

This is my first Dyson and now I know why everyone is crazy about these vacuum cleaners! This thing is AWESOME! This is my first cordless vacuum cleaner as well and I find it just amazing how easy it is to vacuum clean with this machine. It has excellent sucking power and it is easy to maneuver. Our granddaughter is needing a vacuum cleaner this fall for when she goes to college. She is NOT getting this one! I am keeping it! (I will be ordering her this model before she heads out to college)! I would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone!

The thought of having to get out a bulky vacuum and move it from plug to plug and fighting cord the whole time …. No more - i love this vacuum - felt like I was deep cleaning the first week- Carpet looks great!

I purchased this product directly from dyson website. I always loved dyson and wanted to give it try the cordless one. The 40 min is on low, if you use it on high the vacuum time around 30 min. It of course started dropping the time. After 1 year it would only work 20 ish min after being fully charged. Now i can only use it for 5 mins.. its disappointing because dyson is a great brand and the parts and all not cheap to replace every time you get an issue with the product. Would not recommend a cordless one. I also have canister and also have upright. Used the upright for years and years with no issue. Go with one that has a cord, i advice. I always done the proper cleaning, and cleaned the filter in a timely manner. These are expensive vacuum cleaners and hard to replace them everytime it gives an issue. I would not buy a cordless dyson again.

I bought this vaccuum eleven months ago. It worked for the first 10 months and then stopped charging. I keep this vacuum attached to its docking station on the wall in a nice neat broom closet I use it only to pick up kitchen crumbs two to three times a week. I called Dyson and they decided I needed a new battery pack. I waited for it for two weeks. I installed it and tried charging for a few days and it still wouldnt charge. I called again (by now Im almost a month without this vacuum) and now they are saynig I need a new docking assembly. So, now i will be waiting another two weeks to receive and install it. I hope this will tesolve the issue. Update: I received the promised docking assembly that turned out just to be a piece of plastic for mounting on the wall that has nothing to do with charging. Called again and was told that they will send me a new unit after I return my original vacuum. Just checked UPS tracking and found out that Dyson received my old vacuum three business days ago. So far no communication from them. Im almost two months without the vacuum that cost me about $400.

This vacuum is a dream come true. Ive gone through so many brands and none have even come close to the suction power this vacuum has. Its easy to maneuver, included a bunch of great attachments, and its easy to store without taking up too much space. Plus its purple - my favorite color! The battery life is actually a lot better than i expected considering the immense power this vacuum uses when operating. When we bought our home the previous owners had flooring done that left some gaps between the planks in odd areas of the home. Little bits of dirt and yuck would get between the flooring and no matter what we tried, we just couldnt get the dirt out. We literally put the head of the vacuum over the gap, and bam -- all the dirt was gone in a second!!! The suction power is enough to make me give 10 stars to this Dyson if I could. Absolutely amazing and a real headache saver.

The V8 is another excellent cordless vacuum by Dyson. I had it going within a few minutes of unboxing it and immediately went to task on cleaning up the living room and guest room. I was able to vacuum every nook and cranny with the V8 before the battery died, however I noticed that I would need to recharge it to complete the entire house (actually had to do this a few days later, we have a 5 bedroom home on two stories with a sunroom so I needed two charge cycles to complete it all). Other than the battery capacity I have no criticisms, its an absolute pleasure to vacuum with.

It certainly has power .. you will notice it compared to other brands. But it 40 min battery last only 20 minutes if you use full power and takes a while to charge. I returned mine and got a corded one.

I love that it is light weight and works wonderful on picking up dirt and the suction on cleaning the carpets!
