They are light/thin plastic. Be careful they rip easily. Its a great bargin for the buck after you figure out how to be careful.

I have bought these twice before with no problem, but the quality has changed. The last box of these I bought had slightly darker green bags and random bags on each roll were cut and couldnt be used. I learned the hard way after getting poop on my hands TWICE that I have to check every single bag. My husband fell for it as well. We are finishing out the box but we will never buy these again.
