Dont be tempted with cheap cameras that boast high resolution but use a small image sensor. This camera is the real deal. It has very high resolution and a large image sensor for fantastic low-light color images. I liked it so much, I bought another! One of my cameras is mounted fairly low and can see the night sky in part of the frame. The first night I had this running, I thought there was dust on the lens because there were white speckles. Yeah, turns out those were stars. Fast forwarding the video over the entire evening, you can actually see the rotation of the earth by observing the star field. Really incredible technology. Well worth the price!

If you are looking for good outdoor security cameras with decent night performance that will actually be useful in the case of an incident, go look up DORI and do some research, and then evaluate the specs on this camera. Ive used a half dozen different cameras over the years, and the low light performance of this camera has been the best Ive seen by a wide margin at this price point. Note there are good arguments for night vision vs color night vision and their effects on DORI which youll have to tailor to your actual needs, though I find color information to be useful enough in a security situation that I like using this for the wide view for DOR, and more focused regular night vision for Identify, which can have a slightly smaller sensor if you have to (1/1.8 for night vision, 1/1.2 for color night vision is a good test). The sensor size on this camera is fantastic and really makes the color night vision impressive. Anything smaller than this sensor size is basically garbage for the purpose. Its a Dahua rebrand, so take proper precautions with network security (I used the matched NVR to isolate the cameras, and then block the NVR from talking to the internet at all). The Empire Tech has a relatively good reputation in the community from what I understand too, thought I havent had to exercise that at all, but was a factor in me choosing THIS rebrand over others.

The IPC-Color4K-X 2.8mm has been a solid performer. I am in a harsh environment. My temps reach single digits frequently this winter between 0 and 9 degrees Fahrenheit. The camera is fully exposed to the elements. It is on a pole with no overhanging roof to shield it. I used a PFA152-E to mount the junction box to a pole. The night time picture is in a pitch black environment with no external lighting. The day time picture is the same view on a rainy and slightly misty & foggy day. Works great with Blue Iris too. Vendor Notes: I have purchased 4 IP camera from Andy at EmpireTech. Transaction always smooth. Product has the right firmware and works like it should. All of my pre-sales questions were dutifully answered promptly. Tip: If your first time ordering a junction box, double check with Andy that you are selecting the correct one for your camera.

IPC-Color4K-X ,ultra low light 4K full color cam is the newest in night time full color security cameras. The displayed snap-shot, was taken about 19:35 on 10/13/2021. No external source of lighting and all internal illuminators were also off. Top left camera is equipped with a 2.8mm lens while the right picture was taken with the 3.6mm lens. On the bottom is a 8MP camera in night mode with no IR on. Trees in back ground on the right side of each channel, are between 100 meters to 1/2 K away. Security now has a new look in affordable color Star gazing at night in full color or just plain seeing in the dark while in the comfort of ones confides, now takes on a new meaning.

When I first installed it in my room, after turning all lights off, I noticed an odd red color on one of the walls that I could not see by myself. I was wondering if that is from some LED in the room so I started searching around. It turned out to be the red traffic light from about 400 feet away!!!!!!! Unbelievable! In my room with all lights and camera LEDs off, the camera would see pretty well and in color when with my eyes I could only see black. When I walked around at the time I could not see motion blurring either. Lowlight sensitivity easily beats the HikVision 2087 I tried on the same spot. The Dahua also has a more responsive UI and higher resolution sub stream. One exception was that this Dahua at 112 FOV (2.8mm) was a bit less sharp than the HikVision with 90 FOV. I imagine they will be just as sharp at the same FOV [Edit yes they are] I used them both with Blue Iris and CPU utilization was very low. Amazing security camera. Highly recommended.

This is really the best night vision camera Ive seen. Ive another 6 cameras and they are all IPC-T5442TM-AS, which are very good at night. But, I was looking for something better. All cameras Ive had over the last seven years have had great images during the day. It really has been night vision where I see the big difference. Two years ago I tried an IPC-T5442TM-AS and it was so much better than my older cameras at night... so I replaced them all with IPC-T5442TM-AS (mostly 6mm). As soon as I read about the larger sensor size and very low 0.0005 Lux, I ordered this EmpireTech 4K 8MP camera. After only 1 night up, the night vision was just so much better, I ordered a second one of these cameras the very next day. I have now replaced 2 of my IPC-T5442TM-AS with these cameras. If youre looking for a night vision, this is the camera. If you are primarily concerned about daylight video or are simply monitoring your porch, then purchase a less expensive IPC-T5442TM-AS.

I cannot tell the difference between day and night images. The smart codec is incredible producing extremely low bandwidth streams up to 4K. Whats more nearly every parameter is hot controllable within a Dahua NVR and is incredibly easy to adjust. I could not be happier with 8 of these so far.

After a recent uptick in criminal activities, i needed to upgrade some of the cameras around the house. Typically, Ill avoid 8MP cameras due to their small sensor size, but this one had a 1/1.2 sensor in it and i decided to give it a try. It replaced the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE (2MP Starlight varifocal zoom with a 1/2.8 sensor) i purchased from the same seller years ago. Note that the screenshots shown are a comparison between IPC-HDW5231R-ZE (optimized tuning and would be at 2.8MM zoom or close to 2.8MM) and the IPC-Color4K-X 3.6MM (no optimization, this was an initial testing picture). Both screenshots taken from BlueIris Console. Note that the screenshot with the IPC-Color4K-X 3.6MM is overblown with the street light, but again this screenshot was taken without optimization of the camera itself. Due to the larger sensor, the IPC-Color4K-X 3.6MM has quite a wide view, but the difference in detail is significant over the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 2MP. Even compared to the IPC-T5442T-ZE (4MP 1/1.8 Starlight) which i purchased alongside the IPC-Color4K-X 3.6MM the differences between the two are significant. IPC-T5442T-ZE 4MP is a step up to the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 2MP. The IPC-Color4K-X is several steps ahead both in my opinion. Cons: - there is an odd stuttering when it is set to h265 recording, but it does not do this in h264. I expect a firmware update would fix this. - 3.6MM on this is quite wide with a 1/1.2 sensor and there would be more purposes with a varifocal zoom or a 6MM fixed lens version. More models should be coming in the future though. The IPC-Color4K-Xs performance is similar to when i jumped from the Canon 7D to a Sony A7RII; completely caught off guard in the best means possible. I look forward to either purchasing another IPC-Color4K-X as well as future models with a 6MM lens or varifocal lens.

Ive been a long time lurker on the ipcamtalk forums and decided to give EmpireTech a try. I am really glad I did, because these cameras are awesome! I dont even need to turn on the LED illuminators as I have a street lamp that is close enough to give me a full color picture all night long. This camera is recording to a BlueIris setup along with 6 other 4K 30FPS cams. Another cool thing about these cameras is that they are just rebranded Dahua cameras so Dahua firmware works flawlessly. Ill definitely be replacing some older cams with more EmpireTech cams in the future.
