> 24 hourThis projector is absolutely fabulous. The colors are great, the sharpness is fantastic and the blacks are great. I dont understand the complaint about the blacks. Im a graphics professional for over 25 years so Im in a good position to judge picture quality. Compared to my HC2030 the blacks are rich and appear very black. To judge blacks, firstly I look at visual experience, and then technically I compare the edge of the image to the screen (the part of the screen that receives no light except for the ambient light). The blacks will appear no blacker the appearance of the white screen. I can only guess that the projector needs to be adjusted to get visually appearing blacks. I use the eco mode and find the fan noise to be very quiet. Love this projector and I would ignore negative complaints about the blacks.

> 24 hourI have had the Edson 2040 for less than a week, but I can say without doubt, this is the perfect traditional TV replacement! I had a 65 Panasonic television for nearly a decade (720p). It was a great television, but it was time for an upgrade and I was on a budget. Im not a huge fan of 4K resolution, its just TOO sharp for my old eyes to enjoy to the fullest, but I planned on going that direction until I found that for my money I was going to have to go with a 55 screen... Then I discovered projectors. I studied up... for a bright room get 3000+ lums, for good dark images go DLP, so on so forth... I shopped long and hard... finally I came to the Epson 2040. 1080p. Great short focus. 3D. Interpolation. It has it all. I was only worried that my bright living room would be the doom of any image. NOT SO. The Epson 2040 is AWESOME. Period. There are 5 windows in my living room area that get the evening sun. Full sun behind sheer curtains (block about half of light), and floor lamps lit, even low light cinema mode provides great light on a 120 Eleite Screens screen. My projector is ceiling mounted and about 12 from the screen, above the heads of the center seats. Screen is a manual pull down mounted on the ceiling about 8 from the wall. With the screen up, it frees the entire living room space. Screen down, and my entire wall is my television! I run the projector on cenima mode (the dimmer energy saving mode) most often. The picture is great, even in fairly bright light. There is a little bit of warm up time when the unit is turned on, but its not bad at all. HDMI control means when I hit the power button on my cable remote, the projector powers up and automatically turns on my surround sound receiver and everything is ready to go. Some reviews have complained of noise... the projector does make some noise, but NOT THAT MUCH. Its literally mounted a few feet over our heads, and we dont even notice it while watching movies or television. Its really not much difference from my old TV or my PlayStation. The bottom line is, the Epson 2040 is a fantastic projector! Easy to use, fabulous picture. Get rid of the old tv and choose your own screen size!

> 24 hourColors are rich even on eco setting and there is no Rainbow effect (RBC). Its great but definitely needs some improvement with picture processing. On fast scenes, obvious pixelation shows up akin to lower resolution pixelation like how Minecraft looks like. Its not that the entire image pixelates but just some details/highlights in the whole picture shows obvious pixelation. I suspect the hardware or software does this to keep up with the fast scenes. Still this would be a great purchase given the $79 replacement lamps. Compared to a BENQ 1075, the pixels of the Epson 2040 are bigger and so the screen door effect is obvious when one is up close to the screen (1-2 feet).

> 24 hourAbsolutely wonderful projector! I bought this for my basement cinema. Pros: - Super clear picture for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and the TV receiver box for antenna stations. - Fan is relatively quiet. I sit right below it and dont notice it when watching a show - Vivid and true colors - Easy to mount to ceiling when you buy a universal mount - Very easy to set up - Looks great even when projecting directly onto a wall. I havent put our screen up yet, and just have it aimed at a muted green wall. - Great picture even with lights on. Our basement has two lighting areas. I usually watch it with the back area lit and the picture is still very bright and clear. Cons: - I bought a Harmony 350 universal remote. It can turn the projector on, but it cant shut it off for some reason.

> 24 hourItem arrived earlier this evening and I instantly set it up and tested a couple of blu ray DVDs in my collection from Avatar to MI:Ghost Protocol to Game of Thrones to Man of Steel and lastly, settling with Inside Out (my daughter and son requested for them to see it again) and instantly, my family enjoyed it out of the box! The picture was so clear although I was playing a bit in its initial setup with keystoning but I didnt need to as the throw was just about right. We couldnt be any happier with our purchase and as 1st time home theater owners, wed be looking forward to spending time in the theater room more often, probably re-watching some favorite blu ray titles we have in our decent collection. Id recommend this for 1st time or even experienced owners.

> 24 hourI sat in front of this for the first time, put a good movie in the bd player and my jaw dropped. I just sat there awed and the only word that came to my mouth was wow. Later a friend came to see, and he had exactly the same reaction. Wow. The detail was amazing. Admittedly, I am not a videophile in its truest form but I have an appreciation for a good display and for the price this one definitely qualifies. I have it mounted about 12 ft from a homemade screen that I made using Carls Blackout Cloth, and it give me a picture approximately 120 in diag. The image is so bright, I use the eco mode and it still displays a nice picture with soft lights on in the room. This projector also has a horizontal keystone adjustment that allows me to mount the projector to the ceiling off to the side instead of in the center. There are two things that in a perfect world might be considered negatives. One, it is somewhat noisy when there is nothing playing on the screen. Not an issue when the movie is on. The second thing is because I have the projector mounted to the side. I can see a light reflection below the lower rh side of my screen. It is probably a reflection off the lens and it is in shape that you would get if you moved the projector off center and didnt use the horizontal keystone to correct for it. I didnt notice it at all when I had the projector centered, so I am sure it is a product of the keystone correction. Neither is bad enough to dampen my enjoyment of this piece of equipment in any way.

> 24 hourGot this on sale for 499 and replaced an aging 8350. I was on my 3rd bulb on the 8350 and although i loved it, the price for the bulbs were too expensive, especially 5 years later. What really sold me on this projector was the price and the price of the replacement bulbs ($99). I use it mostly for video gaming and movies. The fan is not any louder then my 8350, but when scenes change, the unit is really loud. it sort of sounds like a really loud shutter. But for the price how can you really complain. go buy a $2k projector if you want super quiet. The colors are great and its just as bright as my 8350 was.

> 24 hourI have 3,000 hours on the bulb that came with this, its used heavily. The picture is fantastic on my 9 screen, its a stationary screen with a black felt border. I can see every hair and every pore on faces with a Blu-Ray, Netflix, or any 1080P source. Works great with the PS4, great for games. Easy to use menus, nice remote. Very bright for a theatre projector, brighter than the $4,000 Sony projector I replaced with this one. DO NOT buy a universal mount, dont be cheap, fork over the money for the Epson mount. I bought a cheap $20 universal mount and upon installation immediately purchased the Epson mount (which was $120 I believe?) The Epson mount is solid, quality built, and much easier to use and setup.

> 24 hourI cannot stress enough how good of a purchase this was. Before this I was limited to using my 26 inch television for everything: TV, movies, and games. Now with some careful positioning Im able to project the equivalent of a 125 inch screen onto a homemade projector screen in a very dark room. This darkness is important, as the projector doesnt need to work as hard while at the same time providing an extremely vivid image. Of course Ive had the lights on as well in this room which has washed out the image significantly, but it is still visible. I am new to the world of projectors, and after a couple years of researching and comparing I think I have found the best introductory model for me. Your situation may be different, but I would still recommend the Epson Home Cinema 2040 if youre thinking of starting down this road. I honestly believe that I couldnt be happier with this purchase.

> 24 hourVery Crisp colors and detailed picture even on a sunny room movies and shows look amazing, my only concern seems to be the software at times buggy, when turning on I hear the fan noise but not picture is displayed, I use the remote to change source or display menu and no response I have to resort in to unplug the device and plug in to make it work again, I contacted Epson customer service I have a case number Im waiting for a software update to correct this but nothing so far, Ill try to contact them again to see if they help me solve and update on the outcome
