> 3 dayReally love this scary beast, it serves as an axe and hatchet if you use it right. I can honestly see it replacing a 5-7lb axe which Ive always found an awkward intermediate between a 7-10lb maul and....this thing, fills a niche I didnt know about. As you can see in the photos it works on soft wood like pine as well as hardwood; on hardwood Id rather a maul just for how hard it is on the body. Though with avocado, oak and even some pieces of pine, if you have to, Id double clutch for control because it will fly off and kill your WHOLE family. I choke up really far on the handle and give the wood a little tappy to make kindling. The shock grip works phenomenally at keeping your fillings in place. I added a little lanyard because I like to pamper my equipment. Definitely recommend this, Ill be grabbing a hatchet and splitting maul by Estwing right quick.

Greater than one weekThe extra weight of this hatchet really helped me with making kindling while camping.

Greater than one weekLove that sheath! Covers the blade and leaves the hammer end ready to go. Hammerhead is plenty wide to pound down most any kind of tent peg. Grip handle is very safe. No slip noticed. Blade needed a little sharpning...otherwise a great tool or fireside friend!!!

> 3 dayI casually destroyed two axes, five shovels, and a hammer this year alone. Im only building a koi pond next to a tree, and these pathetic tools just cant keep up. It took hours to find a sledge hammer/axe, but every second was worth it. Even if it gets dull the weight will always carry it through. Amazon wanted me to rate its Light weight level. It is NOT light weight and it SHOULDNT BE. I need more tools built for working, not tinkering. I had to build a new shovel for crying out loud! If this company starts making power tools, Ill never go back to Home Depot.

> 3 dayBought this for splitting wood at camp (popup camper style.) We used to use an Estwing Hatchet until we realized that we were working way too hard. A lot of times the hatchet would get stuck in the wood and it was a challenge to remove. Decided to bite the bullet of more weight. This Maul is heavy compared to a hatchet but it is built well and the splitting angle is perfect. We barely even break a sweat splitting wood for kindling or just a smaller quicker burning fire. It is still small which is important for storage in our camp box. Great solution!

> 3 dayThis axe was super sharp; designed to split wood and well balanced and the perfect supplement to a larger axe when splitting a cord. Especially when the large axe and a maul got stuck, I used this to make another fault in the wood and help split some tough hard woods [oak; sourwood]. Very happy with this purchase.

Greater than one weekGreat for splitting wood but not huge branches or stumps unless you have a lot of time to work on splitting it. nice heavy weight that helps in the splitting process. Hammer side nice to knock some small branches off. Again not for large pieces of wood but can if you have time and energy. I got the blue one which looks awesome. Someone commented on paint or finish..,When you hitting some wood some of it will come off but that is wear and tear. I would buy it again for sure. Now is it for camping...It is 4lbs. So if you can add that to your carry weight you will be fine but this is not a lightweight tool. I would bring it anywhere with me. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayVery little effort needed to split 10 -12 long by up to 8 in diameter logs for camp fire. Does not get stuck in the log.
