After mere seconds of using this to power a 12v device drawing about 19 watts, this wire started heating up drastically and immediately; so much so that the voltage actually started dropping (due to the increased resistance wire acquires as it heats up), and if I left it plugged in, there may well have been a fire hazard. This is typical of ultra-cheap cables manufactured by corporate scammers. They add tons of plastic insulation around the wire to make the consumer think they are heavy gauge wires, when in fact they are miniscule wires. Just cut one open and look at what you find: a few practically microscopic strands of copper. (I did precisely that to have a look; 90% plastic insulation... enough insulation to handle a few hundred volts! Whereas these are only for 12v projects...)

I used this to connect to my larger 12 volt supply to power all my security cameras from one supply. Cleaned up my power strip very well by removing 3 small 12 volt wall warts and running it all of of my 20 amp supply.

looks like a clean install , though very thin wires , I am only using 6 out of the 8 and the input gets warm to hot on hot days , using with 5mp ptz zoom cameras and the wires are to thin , I would not buy again , I would not use these splitters unless the devices are or under 500ma each at 12v or 5v , these splitters are way to thin for my application, just using till I can find something that can handle my power requirements , though it seems everyone is selling this junk wires Edit ; I had 2 cameras disconnecting , this splitter could not handle a total of 5 amp at 12v , the wires are as thin as cheep Ethernet cables , nowhere near the awg they should be , it’s now out of service I had to connect directly the wires to power source , going to have to make my own splitter with real wire , this item is a joke and a waste of money Edit ; none of my cameras work off this splitters , night vision and ptz non functional,

Now, it has been a few days later and I have tested both pairs of splitter cables and they seem to work just fine with no problems. I am very pleased with this purchase. Very happy! f you draw Just 2A from all (8) connectors the input line burns up because the wire size is too small more copper please!
