I got this because I always wish I have a few more strong ones for hammock setups. These work great. I am also able to use one color for right and another for left to ensure I know where my opening is when hanging. Price was right for me and I didnt need climbing quality clips.

Very nicely made. Vrty light snd sturdy. I did not test it. If it is truely 12KN, it is perfect.

I purchased these with The Orange Screws to secure a two seat glider in the garden so that the wind couldnt flip the glider onto the surrounding plants. I thought that the carabiners would fit over a horizontal bar at the base of the glider but the spring activated closing clip does not provide a wide enough opening for the bar to fit through the opening. I solved the problem by fastening the glider to the screw with twine. I will however keep the carabiners because they seem to be excellent quality and very well manufactured. Just not big enough for the intended purpose.

Exactly what I needed

Mountain climbing carabiners are rated to save peoples lives when free falling toward certain death. These clips are only rated for about half that stress. In other words, they are amazing for all the lesser uses and of course the price reflects that they are not rated to splwfftcd (see above.) My most common use is of course to hold my keys. They do this very well, The difference between this and a typical key fob is impressive. I dont hang my stainless steel or Nalgene water bottle from one, leaving that routine to my son. But I do find they make it easy to attach and remove a hammock, a lashing point, or in my case, my back pack from my carry on or even one checked wheeled duffel to another, allowing me to more easily walk all our bags, alone or as a family, through the various airports of the world. When I come home, at least one or two of the clips go back to their day jobs, minding my keys and keeping them connected to my person so I can use them quickly and easily.
