> 3 dayI dont usually enjoy strategy games, but the story and the characters are engaging and unique from one another. There are 4 different paths making it so you can play it 4 times with very different stories. I strongly recommend.

> 3 dayThree houses is a really great fire emblem game. I was planning on buying this game for years, and finally bought it for the holidays. This game is a time sink with four routes. I have played through only 2 routes and have spent over 100 hours. There are some new features compared to the previous fire emblem games such as the lectures, calendar system, tea time, and monastery exploring. All of these will cause you to spend so much time playing without realizing it. Definitely a game worth the $60 price, but I bought it at around $50. It was delivered quickly with no issues completely brand new as advertised. Ill talk about parts of the game that I liked and thought could improve. GAMEPLAY: Very addicting gameplay. Similar to other fire emblem games, you control characters (anime chess pieces) on a grid and usually are told to defeat the enemy commander or all enemies (rout). Just like with fire emblem awakenings, the leveling up is a lot faster compared to earlier fire emblem entries making progression faster. There are 22 chapters (maps) to play through for all routes except one which only had 18 chapters. In between these chapters you will be able to do monastery exploring where you can interact with your characters to get to know them for supports (which provide you better advantages during battle) and also develop your avatar professor character in skills and professor level. You will also hold lectures to develop your characters skills to grow them from the commoners or nobles they are into professional commanders of war. In addition you can also spend time to level up these characters with battles. Each chapter takes place within a month, so usually you get 3 opportunities to either monastery explore, hold seminars, or do extra battles. RPG CUSTOMIZATION: Similar to fire emblem games post awakenings, you can develop your characters into any class you want. In this game, your characters come with strengths and weaknesses in terms of ability. Budding talents are usually weaknesses that when trained by the professor 12 times will turn into a strength with a special skill learned. Regardless it is up to you what you want to develop your characters to. The class system has been changed into a multi tiered system where you take exams to promote to stronger classes. All characters usually begin as a commoner or noble class, promote to a beginner class, promote to an intermediate class, promote to an advanced class, and may choose to promote to a master class or exploring other lateral classes. Each class can be mastered through gaining enough class points by participating in a battles per chapter. When a class is mastered, usually an ability and sometimes a combat art is learned which can be equipped when using another class. For example a typical progression could be something like commoner->fighter->wyvern rider->wyvern lord. The learned abilities from the progression would be seal defense and defiant critical which would drop the enemy defense and raise your critical chance rate. However if the following progression was followed: commoner->myrmiddon->mercenary->warrior->wyvern lord, the learned abilities would be vantage, wraith, and defiant critical. This would basically allow your character to attack first when they have less than 25% HP and also increase your critical chance rate by 100 which is usually a KO on the enemy. It is through this type of class customization that makes the game very fun. All characters get to equip abilities to use and also combat arts which are special moves that can be used to give you an edge during a battle. You can even customize how the characters dress during battles. MUSIC: It is probably already known that this game has one of the best game soundtracks ever. STORY: You play as a mercenary turned professor who is assigned to teach one of three houses at an officers academy which develops commoners who can afford it or nobles into experienced battle commanders. The academy is located at a monastery run by a religion that dominates the entire country. The three houses consists of students located between three regions of Fodlan, the country. There are the black eagles which consists of students from the southern empire, the blue lions which consists of students from the western kingdom which broke off from the empire, and the golden deers which consists of students from the eastern alliance territories which broke off from the kingdom. Depending on the house chosen, your story and chapters in the second half of the game will be different with different story outcomes and endings. Like most fire emblem games you are special which you will find out. I started with the golden deer house which apparently was the best first choice as it does the best at explaining things. Unfortunately this is one of those games that requires you to play all routes to get a full picture of the happenings behind the scenes in the world. There is not one correct choice but which house you choose will have your character influence the house positively resulting in the best scenario for your house. Basically its fire emblem mixed with harry potters hogwarts. IMPROVEMENTS: Having played the game with the golden deer and black eagles, its very clear that the game was rushed. You will notice that some routes have more cutscenes and chapters than others and in general have more things explained. The ending is really just the ending, the credits. Basically you beat the main villain of your route, have a romance scene, and it goes to credits. Not even a goodbye to your students or a ending speech, the game just ends. That definitely could have been improved. The main character should have voiced lines. If they already speak during battle then they should be able to speak elsewhere. Either make them completely mute or completely voice them. Calendar could be extended to make events when you want, otherwise it kind of makes it pointless. Basically the calendar acts as a deadline to when the game will end. Since each chapter takes place during a month except for a few chapters, you already know that the game lasts about 20 months with a timeskip in the middle. So that would be about 60 event days to use to develop your characters. Also the months and lore are weird for the player to know or care about as nothing mentioned actually makes a difference. During winter, the maps still look like its summer. Even the monastery is always sunset during the second part. There are some improvements to the story I would suggest but to prevent spoilers I will just say that it would be interesting if there was a story route where Claude could be a mastermind villain and invade Fodlan with a certain army after the end of the war when everyone in Fodlan is tired and weak, which would be a cool gotcha moment. Almost like a northern territories vs Nilfgaard ending from Witcher 2. Overall Fire emblem three houses is a game that is well worth the price. If you actually read to this point, why havent you already bought or played the game?!!

> 3 dayBefore I started this game, Monster Hunter was the game that kept me playing in excess of 200 hours per game. I couldnt imagine any other game which could match the MH series. Enter Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I have clocked nearly the 300 hour mark (including 4 playthroughs - I wont put spoilers here but youll find out - of the main game and a playthrough of the DLC) and all this is because of the combination of riveting stories and excellent gameplay. The Fire Emblem series is based on its turn-based, tactical and addictive gameplay. The reason we kept coming back for more is the outcomes of relationships between members, the multiple divergent paths you can take, and the diverse number of characters you can battle with, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The difficulty level is completely up to you. You can play super-hard and have perma-death on your characters, or you can play on casual and have any dead characters mercifully revived in the next mission. The story is so well written, and the in-game animation during the exploration days in the monastery is utterly beautiful. There are so many things to do during exploration too, so its not just a tactical turned-base game. This is hands-down the most unique, most beautiful game (characters especially) and character-driven Fire Emblem of all Fire Emblems. I cannot recommend enough of this game. It really caught me unaware how the game never grows old despite multiple playthroughs, because it feels different in each playthrough. I highly recommend this - well worth the money paid for both the main game and the DLC.

> 3 dayI’ve always struggled getting into the previous fire emblem games. This was the first I’ve enjoyed. I love the Persona-like gameplay where you decide what to do during free days. I really enjoyed the characters and their backstories. (I chose the Blue Lion house). I haven’t been able to put this down since I started and I’m close to the end of the game now.
