> 24 hourThanks to comments in critical reviews, I was particularly careful in layout and installation, including using a 2 level. The result was very good. In planning the layout it is important to note the shelves are in 3 long sections. The automatic garage door hardware was an obstacle. I carefully removed auto overhead door brackets, cut to length, and put shelf brackets behind the door opener brackets. There was too much tension on the spring bracket, so I placed the shelving bracket over the top. As seen in the photo, that bracket underneath, about the thickness of a heavy washer, kicked the shelf bracket bottom out and threw the shelf out of alignment. Placing a piece of the door bracket (a washer is too small and would just get crushed into the drywall) I had cut underneath the adjoining bracket brought it back to flush, albeit resulting in a bit of a wave in that spot. If your walls have variations, they may kick the shelves out of alignment - with a little shimming good results can still be achieved. I converted one full 3 section to a 1 x 6 shelf in the garage corner for hanging garden tools, really pleased with that...much better than the one dimensional flimsy tool storage apparatus sold. It did require cutting the shelf brackets to 1 with an appropriate blade in my Skill saw, filing edges and covering with padding, putting a board in one corner in lieu of a bracket and buying a 1 bracket at a hardware store. While I added some additional zip ties as others indicated in their comments, I also used the straps provided and carefully placed them exactly where indicated, being careful to keep them in the middle rather than on top of the shelf where they could be damaged. If installing, do yourself a favor and use a nut driver on your drill for putting lag bolts in.

> 24 hourI assumed I would not have trouble laying out the footprint I hade in mind. But the studs in my garage walls appear to be irregularly spaced. Two different stud finder tools failed to help. So I had to probe around. I attempted to pop the wall plates off of a light switch and an outlet, identify the corresponding wall stud, and measure in 16 inch increments and higher, and couldn’t figure a consistent interval. So I ended up just using my smallest drill bit with some guesswork until I found enough spots that would work. Wish I had spent some time getting lines down on every possible stud before I opened boxes and stuff everywhere. I made it work by combining some 4’ and 3’ spans (from the 6’ model). Now that I got them up, I’m satisfied with how they look and getting my crap off the floor.

> 24 hourThis is a very well-made product with great attention to details. The installation template that is included is practical and useful. To improve the template, I would make the holes in it smaller and add center circle lines, as one cant get exact match on marking the holes. If the hole sin the template were smaller, marking would be more precise. The level that is included with the template makes all the difference. Do not solely rely on the stud spacing on the template, as studs sometimes are not spaced exactly what they should be. I bought four (4) sets and highly recommend it.

> 24 hourOrdered these because I didn’t want to go to all the trouble of cutting plywood for shelving. I purchased them because of the reviews but there are a few shortcomings that you should know before you sink the money into these units. Pros: clean look, not a dust catcher, sturdy brackets…install was a little frustrating until I just did my usual DIY. CONS: the ‘shelves’ come in sections. For 6 ft shelf you have 4 smaller 1 ft x 3 ft section. They must then be tied together to be sturdy without movement. UGH!!!! The ‘included’ measuring cardboard is a JOKE!!! It was bent when I opened the box and basically USELESS. Use your own level. The included Velcro straps to tie the shelf units together are a PAIN. I gave up on them and used zip ties. Put 4 zip ties on each bracket and they no longer slide right and left. All in all they should hold my tool chests so I am happy with them so far.

> 24 hourThese were easy to hang and install. I did put mine on studs, not wall hangers. They are very solid. They are very wide. Take that into account when looking at them, they are twice the depth as a rubber maid or regular garage shelf
