When just being outside (and breathing) is hazardous to your health, then it is very helpful to have air purifiers inside your home. These filters are the easiest to replace and moderately priced. I vacuum them about once per week, but find myself replacing the ashy gray filters about once a month, just based on my visual inspection. I haven waited for the machine to start blinking and telling me I need to replace the filter.
