Fluke T6-1000 PRO Electrical Tester

> 3 dayI really like this product, the field sense tech works great as long as you use a true ground reference. I’ve compared it to other meters, another Fluke and a Klein, and it reads true with the one probe on ground and the forks around the wire. Because everyone’s body creates a different amount of resistance, that feature is useful only as an induction tester. It will identify a wire with voltage, but will not give you a true reading.

> 3 dayUpdate 3/2018: I’ve been working with a rep and the engineers from Fluke (I’m in the Seattle area near their HQ) and they have been quite interested and helpful in the issues I’ve identified. Met them at their HQ and discussed the issues I’ve found, and even got a tour of the assembly factory, which was quite fascinating!

> 3 dayAs an actual electrician, I think this is brilliant. Now I can check voltages without having to take wire nuts apart. Anytime I can lessen exposure to energized conductors is a win in my book. All the comments about the field sense readings are amusing. Any electrician in the field will be wearing non conductive boots (EH footwear.) Maybe even be on a fiberglass ladder. Which is also non conductive. I will never be a good path to ground (for good reason) and will always be using the black test lead for a ground reference. That will be the best way to get an accurate reading.
