Forney Oil is specific for tapping or drilling into metal. It does not feel like regular oil. It is designed to clean the metal surface so that the drill or tap can cut cleanly and easily into metal. Because it has this capacity drills and taps wont dull as easily/quickly and less force is necessary when doing either. Use it with your hand drill and you wont have to lay on the drill to get it to bite. Of course if you do have to lay on a drill you probably need new bits anyway.

Tap Magic has been around for many decades. You see it everywhere in shops. I suppose that professionals would buy cheaper tapping fluid if there were others that were as good. But they all seem to use Tap Magic. I figure that there is a reason for this.

I have been using Oatey 30203 Dark Cutting Oil to drill hard steel with cobalt bits and it works great. I decided to try this oil (always looking for something better) based on the reviews and was very disappointed. It simply doesnt work as good as the Oatey oil. It took me twice as long to drill a 1/4 inch hole in 1/4 inch hard steel. I drilled four holes, two holes with this oil and two holes with the oatey oil. The oatey oil is far superior for my type of work. Wont buy again.

Theres a guy on the YouTube who likes to test stuff in his garage. He ran everything from a dry bit to motor oil to this stuff, and the best result was with this. That confirms my experieince on drills, taps, and any metal removal process.
