She used to fill up the ice maker in the evening because she never knew how much water was in the reservoir and didnt want it to go dry, so we bought the side tank. The side tank is great in that you can see how much water is in it, and it takes 5 times as long (or more) to run out if not longer. It also matches the Profile perfectly. The only downside is you cant add water by pouring it in the top. You have to turn it upside down, and remove the cap to refill it. Then put it back on and back in. Seems like that could have been done differently, but all in all, we still love having it.

You need this if you use an opal!

I have found that certain brands of ice makers are made by the same factory as the GE Opal machine. The internal parts are the same. I was hoping the tank would also work and it does. It keeps the water level in the tank above the low level sensor and does not overfill. Lasts so long with the side tank.

We use the opal ice machine at our business. And love it. But the tank is small and I was filling it up constantly cause we love ice. This side tank, should have ordered this right away and saved all a lot of time. This tank can hold a ton. We’re now only refilling the tank maybe once a week. So nice to have one less chore around the office. Was worried about installing, but directions included are easy to read, it’s basically plug and play. :)

Works great for extra ice but there’s no reason it should be a $100 container as there’s not much to it. Way over priced

My GE Opal ice maker didn’t come with the reserve tank — trying to keep an eye on the water level is a pain. With the side tank, it keeps the water level about 1/3 full and works perfectly. So nice to have it.

I bought the ice maker and thought I would not need the side tank. WRONG. You need it. The ice maker uses the little amount of water it holds in the bottom too quickly and you will get tired of having to add water. So much nicer now that I have the side tank.

Easy to see the water level in this tank and so easy to liftoff and fill. I would highly recommend purchasing this additional for your ice maker.
