Gillette Venus Extra Smooth Sensitive Womens Razor Blade Refills, 4 Count, Designed for Women with Sensitive Skin

Im a bit at a loss as to what makes these razors particularly good for sensitive skin. They work well as razors, but for people with very sensitive skin, these razors may still cause problems. My skin is moderately sensitive and these razors work as well as other, similar products. They do a great job of shaving. It only takes one pass usually and they make shaving fast and easy. If these razors werent marketing as being for sensitive skin, I would have given them 5 stars. I think these razors are worth the price. They last a long time and are much easier to use than cheaper razors. Overall, I recommend them to people who have moderately sensitive skin, but use with caution if your skin is very sensitive.

These refill cartridges each have five blades with lubrication and moisturizing ingredients in two strips. The wide, smooth guards surrounding the blades provide stability when shaving the curves of the legs but are somewhat awkward under the arms and when changing angles. I would prefer a smaller cartridge. Overall, they do a good job shaving large areas and are nicer than cheap disposables but are also significantly more expensive.

I know womens razors are targeted, over-priced and up-sold to women with pink handles at twice the price but, at the same time, I also feel like the Gilette Venus line, which Ive used for well over a decade now, is by far the best womens razor on the market, bar none. It is ridiculously pricey for a little bit of metal and plastic, but it also shaves so smooth I dont even need to use shave gel, and close enough I have no stubble. They really are the best of the best.

These are high quality replacement blades for Gillette venus line. These are optimized for womens shaving needs, but work find on men as well. The gender specificity of many personal care needs is more marketing than reality in my experience.

Exactly what I wanted

I really like the Venus razors because they have the head that releases moisturizer that both precedes and follows the blade as it is pulled against my legs. This means that I dont need to use a shaving cream separate from the razor, so Im actually able to shave in the shower. The blades glide smoothly and give a really smooth shave. I dont have to worry about nicks and cuts at all.

Note: The person using this product in our household is my wife. Im transposing her thoughts on the product for this review. My wife has used Gillette Venus Razors for years and we buy them as part of our Amazon Subscribe & Save order. She has used 3 of the 4 razors in this set and so far shes a fan. The major differences between the Extra Smooth and plain old Venus blade cartridges are the addition of two blades (for a total of 5) and the skin elixir strip at the top of the extra smooth model. Ive given Gillettes Mach mens razors flak in reviews before for gimmicky add-ons that are seemingly on there to add money to Gillettes bottom line but my wife swears by the 5-blades on the new Venus cartridge refills. The smooth strip, according to my wife, is great initially but definitely wears out after just a few uses. This is pretty much similar to my experience with Gillettes mens razors, so not surprising. The Extra Smooth Venus Razors are definitely an upgrade but one that youll pay for dearly. The cost of a pack of four is more than the cost of an 8-pack of the older 3-blade Venus Razors (at the time this review was written). Recommended as long as you dont mind the price.
