Golden Artist Colors - Soft Gel Matte - 32 oz Jar

As a veteran artist this Golden soft gel is a go-to to finish off a painting or even in between layers. What is even nicer is that you can dilute it with a bit of water to prolong shelf-life Orin you want a thinner coat. All around good products and this is my favorite soft gel. Ordering through Amazon made it convenient although it gets pricey if one needs to order a bigger supply of art materials. The big ones such as Dick Blick etc remain he smarter solution. But a little convenience was what the doctor ordered this time around...

Between this and the Golden Leveling Gel my projects are looking fantastic. In an effort to offload the stuff that makes me wonder if Im an entry-level-hoarder, Ive been going through all my books, which unearthed a treasure trove of pressed flowers. Years ago Id started collecting flowers from friends garden and forgot all about them after filling every book in the house. So I started gluing them to things like vases, boxes, bangle bracelets, and etc. Spreading adhesive onto paper-thin flowers is not easy yet its easy with this stuff because you need just a thin layer on your base piece and can then simply put flowers in place and coat later. I cant imagine trying to do the same with any of the adhesives Ive used in the past, which is a LOT (I once even called the NTSB for suggestions, back when I was working in glass, because I figure the adhesives used on plane parts would have to withstand a lot of pressure/force etc) and since flowers dont need a glue that can withstand a lot of force, this is perfect and makes it easy. I also LOVE how easy it is to wash off my fingers and brushes. Big fan!

I use this for image transfer on furniture and I am very pleased with the performance of this product.

Its been some time since I last worked on torn paper collages. But, knowing I wanted to get back to making them, I ordered this. Id forgotten how good Golden soft gel mediums are. They go on smooth, but - being soft - they dont tug on the paper enough to stretch it much (and sometimes not at all). The matte version is great because it shows less if the medium smears onto the (paper) collage support. Personally, I like to coat my collages with Goldens semi-gloss medium for a slightly polished finish, but - for the assembly part of the process - their matte medium is ideal. The jar arrived filled to the very top, so - when yours arrives - open it carefully. Especially if you have long hair. And are wearing your bathrobe. Ahem. lol Seriously, if youre working with collage, this - and a sponge brush - take the stress out of mixed media art.
