> 3 dayThe main difference from the base game, and which can make or break this expansion for you, are the event cards.

Greater than one weekGreat, fairly heavyweight co-op game with terrific theming. Its a 3 hour or so playtime if everyone knows what theyre doing, so not a short play at all, but I love this game.

Greater than one weekI will admit, my first game with this expansion had me uneasy because I wasnt ready for the sheer difficulty random events could potentially add. However, later games showed me that it adds a lot of fun to Spirit Island. The base game I play reaaallllyyyy slowly and think everything through, the randomness this expansion adds actually made my games faster because I couldnt control everything, I had to accept somethings were beyond my control. So more fun and faster games make me love this expansion.

> 3 dayYes, it adds a lot of pieces and powers and mechanics. But the two new spirits arent very fun. The tree fellow is so involved in preventing exploration that he seems to not interact with the game at all, just concentrating on empty spaces in the hopes that one day hell annoy someone who tries to move in there. The animal spirit more encourages beasts to migrate than actively attacks, making them seem to be lacking in visceral savagery.

> 3 dayFantastic coop game with more replay value than many board games. Simultaneous gameplay makes it hard to let one person control the direction of the game. The presentation is well thought out and i highly recommend it. It can seem like alot at first but once you figure it out it’s very enjoyable.

Greater than one weekI wouldn’t even want to play the vanilla version of Spirit Island anymore. While the game is great as a stand-alone, this expansion adds the depth the original game was missing. First let’s start with the events: they add a degree of randomness to the game that makes it more replayable, and less of the same thing over and over again. Mostly they make the game more difficult, but that’s part of the fun.

> 3 dayAdds 2 new spirits as well as tokens for beasts, disease, wilds, and strife. Event deck throws chaos into your well laid plans. Great expansion if the base game ever gets stale!
