Hape Fix It Kids Wooden Tool Box and Accessory Play Set

Greater than one weekWe have loved other Hape toys and thought that this tool box would be a great choice for our little one. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful quality of the materials, the design leaves a lot to be desired. Pros: - great wood, absolutely smooth with flawless paint - nontoxic paint - perfect size for little hands Cons: - there are screws, but nothing to screw them into. The nuts and bolts do screw together of course, but with no threaded holes in any of the wooden pieces there is basically no use for the screwdriver. Ours has never been used. - there are only 2 nails. They take about 5 seconds for my toddler to hammer in and then she wants help prying them out again (she tries to pry them herself, but the plastic hammer claw on the plastic nail is slippery and she gets impatient). She also asks for more nails so that she can build something. - unless your toddler is coordinated/interested enough to hold a wrench supporting a nut in one hand and screw the bolt in with the other hand (by hand or with the screwdriver), the wrench is basically useless. My kiddo just used one hand to hold the nut while she screwed the bolt in with the other - the wrench has never been used. Overall I regret the purchase and would not recommend it. We found it to be a hard toy to have fun with, which was disappointing as I have fond memories of playing with my own Fisher Price wooden tool bench from way back when. My child has a great imagination, but she took this tool bench pretty seriously and wanted to actually use tools, not just pantomime it.

> 3 dayMy son is 18 months old and LOVES this tool set. He often helps me in the garage/wood shop so I have been looking around for a quality option for him to work with. He can manipulate the pieces in multiple ways so I think he will be able to play with this for a while. I think this will work until he is old enough to have small versions of real tools available at Lowes and the like. This will let him learn in a safe manner how the tools and hardware work together. A child under three should always be supervised with this sort of tow because it would be possible (though difficult) to choke on one of the smaller pieces. - There are enough peices for a toddler to enjoy without being overwhelmed by too much going on. - There are no artificial noises or such, just a good, solid toy for open ended play. Includes: 2 nails to pound or remove with the hammers claw, plastic 2 screws to work with the flat head screw driver, plastic 2 nuts to manipulate with the wrench and fit on the screws, plastic 2 gears, plywood 2 wood pieces to attach things together 1 tool box that is very sturdy, plywood 1 hammer with solid plastic head and wood handle 1 flathead screw driver, wood 1 wrench, plywood All in all a great way to lear fine motor skills!! > 3 dayMy daughter loves to help daddy in his shop. This has been the best! It cleans easily and is very durable. I looked so much before I bought and I was happy we went with this. We have the matching tool bench also.

> 3 dayTwo year old grandson loves it. He is enjoying the basics while his skills progress. At this age, toys are soon left behind, so it is nice to find something he can continue to enjoy for a while. He is happy to help with house remodeling, keeping busy while mom & dad do the real work. Very good quality product. I will look to this brand again.
