Ive purchased two Onyx 3 speakers and one Onyx 4 speaker. Both of the 3s (purchased in 2017) are performing extremely well. The 4 (purchased in 2020) is quite a disappointment. The battery holds no charge and the speakers crackle at mid volume. Im looking at replacing the 4, but Im not sure it will be with another HK product.

Sound quality is decent. My gripe is about the connectivity. I bought two of these. The HK connect works, but it’s when you leave the area that the problems start. When you leave the home it disconnects (as expected) but when you re-enter the area the speakers recognize that you’re there but they don’t connect to your device. Then, when you go to your device (In my case my phone) to reconnect it connects but only plays for 30 seconds before it un-syncs automatically. You then have to physically walk up to the speakers to hit the Bluetooth button to reconnect and then use the HK sync. This was just very inconvenient and caused me to return them. If you don’t mind having to physically connect to these each time they might be for you.

I have a studio 3 in the garage and when my gf said she wanted a BT speaker in the bedroom to replace her broken one I decided to get one of these. I tried linking the Studio 3 and the Studio 4 and could not figure it out after about half an hour of trying, kinda sucks as it would have been cool for parties, I didnt buy it for that feature but they advertise both speakers as being compatible with the connecting feature, just not the same thing i guess. I was able to get both to play using my samsung phones dual play feature.

This thing is great. It was quick and easy to set up. They give you multiple plug-in types so not just United States but other countries as well. No complaints and the sound is really nice.

A wonderful speaker, perfect choise for those who want to combine powerful home speaker with high-quality sound (without needing to buy a whole surround system, that I can only install and use in one room) with something easy to move around. You wont find anything near this good for this price! I dont need to move my laptop around rooms anymore, but I take the speaker with me to whichever room at home I go. Good bass (very important to me), but still mild overall sound, meaning your neighbours wont be knocking on your door/walls for keeping them awake at night (oh, and I do play quite often at 1am...). The only downside Ive observed is in the bluetooth connectivity - sometimes it plays from a long distance, other times the signal gets distorted behind two walls. So its a little unpredictable... Its cool you can link multiple devices to it, so you dont have to pair-unpair, for example when youve gathered friends and you change ppl playing the music. Works well. Overall, recommend, great choise!

This speaker packs huge bass and is great for on the go. There are a lot of immitations out there on Amazon and other places but when you compare the specs, some have to be plugged in to work and other just have smaller less powerful speakers. I thought about cutting some corners and saving some money but for how I use my speaker, this Harmon Kardon speaker is the BEST value. Battery life is good (about 4hrs on the highest volume). It paires quick and easy like pair of headphones. I got at least 30ft away with no signs of Bluetooth connection degradation.

This is coming from someone who already owned a H.K. speaker. The speaker doesnt work unless you keep it plugged in. There are times when its plugged in and it cuts off. The H.K. 2 sounds mich louder than the 4. Im just disappointed with this speaker. I dont know if the company I ordered from get some bootleg speakers or what. But for what you pay, your going to want your speaker to work.

I went on a trip aboard a small cruise ship last year and they had the Onyx 3 onboard for us to use... was impressed with it then whether on the ship or on any of the small islands we visited. Again, recently I stayed in a nice hotel in Singapore whose suites had the Onyx 3 in them, and that did it for me. It just sounded so good. So I bought the successor, the Onyx 4. Though I had some minor concerns about this being a knock-off, given the good price, it sure seems to be the genuine article in every way, from packaging to documentation to (most importantly) performance. Sounds terrific, syncs up effortlessly, and even came with several different plugs to use, which is great for me since I live overseas. The adapter itself is universal voltage, which I knew, but didnt expect the bonus of four different plugs being included, which precludes the need to use a plug adapter. The plugs included were North American, European 2-pin, UK 3-pin, and Australian angled 2-pin. Ive been very pleased with the sound quality and battery life. With two woofers and two tweeters, plus good porting, the Onyx 4 delivers nice bass and excellent room-filling sound overall, in a portable unit (weighs about 2kg/4.5 lbs). There are so many Bluetooth speakers out there, its hard to know which is the best, but the HK Onyx 4 sure does a fine job for my needs.

There is no question, this product beats the socks off the bluetooth speaker competition. I mostly use it with the TV (bluetooth) in my office, and the bass response is phenomenal. I certainly know of no other bluetooth speaker in this price/size range that would deliver same. Now, I am getting greedy for more bass, and for stereo, and so I am gearing up to buy a 2nd one, just so I can have the stereo effect / extra bass promised. At these prices, it would be crazy not to. This competes with much more expensive equipment, and has the added advantages of bluetooth, price, and portability. And I can always unplug one (or both) and take it on the road. Im a fan.
